Premium and Advanced - where are you mounting your cell phone?

I ended up buying a magnetic cell phone holder. I got the Caw-Car off of Amazon. It works great. I have the Prime Advanced and I mounted the base just below the Audio Power button. There was plenty of room and was really easy to install. Just hop in the car and put the phone right by the base and "snap" it sucks it in and holds tight. Can rotate the phone and angle it any way I want. It's also really easy when you want to leave the car.

 

I have this magnetic and it works great?

I use a magnet mount attached to the top of the vent just left of the screen.

 

That you can get Qi chargers for iPhone, I mean, not that you're an Android person! (Haha)

I move my phone to just behind the steering wheel using a Cloud Valley fixate gel pas. Work great. Terrific location.

 

Im using the same iOttie holder that I posted in post #10 on first page. This thing holds CRAZY good. I could not recommend enough.

 

I'm actually using a RAM suction mount that fits in the spot of the Qi Charger. The only bad thing is when the phone is slid into the mount it will obscure the shifter. For me, that's not that big of a deal, since I know where all the shift points are already. But all it takes is a quick glance down to see Waze. I just couldn't figure out another place that wouldn't block the displays or the airbags.

I also don't like the glass mounts because the phone tends to heat up on longer trips.

 

I'm telling you, Alex, try the high line Garmins, with lifetime updates and lifetime traffic, mounted on lower left of windshield; they don't care about the heat, they don't block your view, and work very well with voice command!!

Oh, I've got one, at the moment though, I'm happy with the built in Nav and Waze. On longer trips I will augment it with the Garmin.

 

I use my cup holder to hold my iPhone. Then again, I have an iPhone 5 - didn't like it when they grew in size. Not sure if the later models fit easily in the cup holder.

Not much good there if you are using Waze like I do.

 

Here's what I got for my Prime Premium. I really liked the position of it from the drivers perspective and it seems to stay put pretty well on the air vent. The only drawback is that the passenger's vent isn't able to pivot left and right anymore.

I'm ... mounting... my iPhone 7+ in my shirt pocket.

I'm a geek, so I have Velcro hooks on the back of my phone and Velcro loops sewn into all of my shirt pockets, so that it doesn't fall out of my pocket when I lean down or run fast.

No kidding.

I also have a tether in case I fumble it, somebody bumps me, or the like. This sucker's glass is never going to hit the floor and crack or shatter! That is, unless I myself also face-plant on the ground, which, considering how coordinated I am, I can't completely rule out!

As if all that weren't geeky enough, I have an Apple Watch too.

I quite consistently charge it overnight, which is almost always sufficient; by the end of the day, I rarely see it discharged any lower than 40%; usually more like 60%. So, I wouldn't expect to use the Qi charger, although if/when iPhones do Qi charging, my wife might possibly use it.

Lol, I have 2 Apple Watches, I wear them 24/7, mainly to track my sleep at night. Have sleep apnea. Anyways... I think I'm even more geeky. Once I get my vanity plates I'll tell you my nickname! LOL

As for the vent mount? anything that limits the travel of a vent is not gonna work in my car. The GF would have a fit. And since using the ECO setting the AC is pretty anemic as it is. On longer trips I do set it to normal however. If I'm driving for 3+ hours I want to be in comfort and not stressed about economy. 600+ miles of range is plenty in my book, and I'm gonna have to stop anyway.

Here's the thing - S-FLOW makes the AC very weak when there's one person in the car, since it turns off flow to the other three seats. It's a much larger difference than the difference between Eco and Normal. So, instead of switching to normal, switch off S-Flow when you have less than four people in the car, at least for the first portion of the drive until the car is comfortable. Then switch it back. I drove across Kansas in the heat and sun with four people in the car, all in Eco and it was perfectly fine.
