Price Parity: Large Scale Coal Vs. PV

    A huge IGCC coal station in IN came online in 2013, one of only two new coal plants in the US that year.

    I found it interesting to read that the 618 MW plant cost $3.5 Billion, or close to $6/watt. The financing must have tipped the scales (or it simply took a loonnng time to build,) because at $2/watt for large scale PV, I think PV is cheaper even after taking into account the disparate capacity factors. Certainly PV has none of the risk of future carbon taxation.
