    Saw a Canadian review of the smart fortwo using cases of beer. It held two in back without packing to the ceiling.

    The tonneau cover in the blue car is the roller type cover and can be stored below the floor.

    This Prius Prime...it still burns gasoline, right? oh well. keep trying toyota.

    There are just a few people worldwide who have reserved a real EV with a real charging infrastructure to fuel them. and it costs less and is quicker. wink, wink. not hydrogen and not gasoline. oh and it's not ugly. that's just a few of the strikes i can think of that make this 'prime' doa. good luck.

    Allow me to play the devil's advocate and say "everyone should buy a BEV" is a bit close-minded. When talking about the society as a whole, any form of gasoline reduction can be seen as a good thing. The Prius inspired other automakers to improve their ICE mpg and emissions while it is practically government intervention that pushed them to PHEVs and BEVs. That can be seen as a net gain as people who won't buy hybrids and end up buying ICE end up with a more fuel efficient car.

    In many places, charging is an issue. The world isn't filled with bungalows with a driveway or garage to plug in your car. Condos and apartments are going up where single detached housing used to be. While you hope that local municipalities help by requiring X number of charging spots per development, not every city is going to see it that way. A PHEV is that half step between hybrid and EV technology. It allows people the enjoyment of BEV driving but with the convenience of a gasoline or diesel engine as a backup for times when they can't charge.

    Lastly, electricity isn't stable everywhere either. Recall that California had rolling black outs in the past and even the Greater Toronto Area had a black out once and they're somewhat regularly hit with ice storms that can cut power and leave people in the dark for a week or two.

    So while it's easy to criticise Toyota for not coming out with a BEV, at least we should give some credit that they're producing a vehicle that *could* appeal to those that want a BEV but for a multitude of reasons, cannot rely on one as their vehicle.

    And of course if you're north of Edmonton there is -no- charging infrastructure for Tesla. Oh, and we haven't even mentioned the ice cubes that are delivered when you drive your BEV in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba, on -40 days! We need heat mon!

    Electric cars are nice, but only when they are nice. ;)

    we've seen video of cell phones held up against the battery ledge, but not sure we have actual measurement.
