Prius 12V battery

    :)I have a 2012 Prius Plug In. One month shy of six years in service. The 12V battery finally needed to be replaced. With information off the old battery, it took me hours to find the correct battery. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries it. The number off the old battery is S46B24R. O'Reilly's part number is simply "Prius Battery". Same battery for the regular Prius as well as the Plug-In. Their price is $189 plus tax, and they give a 10% military discount to active, retired, and veterans. With numerous searches here and google, I spent too much time finding a battery. I hope this information helps others.

    That's a very good price. Not many batteries have the required connection to ventilate hydrogen gas.
    The Optima DS46B24R is probably the gold standard choice for the Plug-In.

    :)Date in service is January 2013, mileage is 25,500. My daily driver is a 2017 Chevy Bolt. I drive my Prius often, but share with other vehicles.

    I think the 12 volt battery's the same for regular 3rd Gen Prius and the Plug-In though, maybe 3rd gen forum's as good as any.

    There's a fair number of replacement batteries available now. I replaced our OEM with the Optima Yellow Top a bit over 3 years ago now, it's still doing fine. If there's a next time, I see Canadian Tire has one, dimensionally identical, same posts, vent port, slightly better specs. A conventionally shaped AGM. It's a rebadged something or other.

    The name of the game is just go to the various battery retailer websites, enter your vehicle data, see what they're offering. Then read the reviews, give it a try.

    In the 'States Pep Boys has a decent priced Bosch battery I think?

    The pep boys battery is decent 6 months in to my daily driver and has vent tube port.
