what do you mean android head unit? is android a new brand? or do you mean a head unit which your android phone will hook to? if you don't have jbl, an aftermarket head unit is an easy install, if you know what your doing.

I would like to install an "Android head Unit" like this:
    ehhh, I can't post a link, because I'm a new member. :(
So a usual "Android Head Unit". Please google for it, and at the pictures you can see a lot of items.

I would like to use it to use my rear camera, GPS, MP3 play, connect my iPhone to it, etc...

The next question for myself: Should I need an android head unit for? :)
    - listen to FM radio
    - play MP3s from my iPhone
    - play MP3 from USB stick
    - optional: GPS (because I can rarely need GPS, so I usually use my iPhone for that)
    - watch the picture of my rear camera

Or can I be satisfied with the original system of the Prius?
Or what items should I install to my car to have these functions?

Please help how can I play MP3 music from my iPhone 5 and from an USB stick?
These might be silly questions, but I'm a beginner Prius user, so forgive me.

its a double din unit. it will fit in place of the junk stock unit, probably sound way better if you also replace the cheapo stock speakers. does the '06 have a usb port, or even an aux port? '05 does not.

Which double din unit you mentioned?
Did you suggest to change the stock unit to something?
My Prius doesn't arrive yet, so I can't check it. But in my opinion there might a USB or an AUX port under the center armrest.

all the units under "android head unit" that i saw were double din. that means they are 2x as tall as an ordinary universal fit (din) head unit. the stock prius head unit is actually double din sized, but it has the oversized front to flow with the dash. with an aftermarket unit, you will need a scosche bezel kit if you want it to look right. otherwise there will be a big ugly gap on either side of the new head unit. if the 2006 has a usb port in the console, the main reason to change the stock radio is cause it sounds like crap, and the stock speakers are a joke. if it has JBL, its better than the base system, but not that much.

Thank you for the detailed info. It's clear now.
Do you have stock unit, or you changed it?

had to change it. the stock unit is junk, the stock speakers are junk. sounds terrible. and i wanted a usb port as well. i actually did drive this car for 100k w/ the stock unit, but i had no info on replacing the head unit nor did the scosche bezel kit exist.
then i found this place. a couple threads w/ pictures about changing head units and speakers are out there; especially the dash d&a video was helpful, and sparky's guide. do a search.
