Was driving and all of a sudden the red triangle showed up with the engine symbol and two other symbols. Later the transmission lock showed up with a warning not to drive the car. At first, no idea if still safe to drive, whether it will start, or how long it can be driven. Checked with a mechanic to get the codes which gave p3000 and p0a80 with unknown failure. OK, I got an OBD2 blue tooth adapter and loaded some apps. Also, found the secret menu. Was able to start the car and 12v battery is 14.0v. Found some apps to confirm the codes and found a bad cell. Took photos of the problem.

The prius 2006 has only 112,000 km. The dealer is closed until January 9th.

Options, apply for a good-will repair and replace the hybrid battery via the dealer. Find other solutions besides the battery but the battery does show a bad cell. Was tested different apps and the car just quit and shut down. I presume that the safe option is towing using the road hazard insurance.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

Use Dr. Prius app to read and clear codes. Your hybrid pack either has corrosion in the voltage sensor harness, or a bad module. You can safely drive the car and keep clearing the codes as they come up as long as you monitor battery temps and stop driving if temps get too high or if warning lights can no longer be cleared for more than a second.

Thanks for the information. Downloaded the app. Does driving the prius with the warning lights cause battery temperature to increase? I was in the garage and trying different apps to check on the hybrid battery voltage and verify a cell failure. All of a sudden, the prius gave the transmission lock error and shuts down. My concern is driving the car and having the other problem occur. The nearest dealer is 15 minutes away and closed until January 9th. This is the only vehicle.

Surprisingly, after some rest, the prius started. Cleared the codes and still OK. Tried Dr prius and would not connect to the Bluetooth adapter. Wanted to compare data such as hybrid voltage.

This might explain your connection issue: Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus Also many phones won't allow an app to turn bluetooth on if it's off, so make sure it's on.

Thanks. Placed the Prius in gear and the triangle with engine symbol shows. Was able to drive short distance and monitor the hv battery. Also, checked two different apps with same result. Used Hybrid assistance and Car Scanner. Any luck with good will warranty? Very low miles such as 62,000 miles on a 2006.
