    Hello,
I'm looking to buy my first prius, and would like to get one with leather and heated seats. I'm confused though as to how that option works. I've seen on toyotas website that they only come in the technology package.

I have seen some used 2010 models for sale on autotrader with leather seats , but they don't don't seem to have rest of the technology package. I'm confused.

I'd like to get leather seats, but don't need the rest of the tech package .

    Thanks for any info

In 2010 that's the Prius IV model, leather and heated seats, no Tech Package. The leather is factory, not port. It also has:

Prius Model 1227 - JBL AM/FM/CD changer with integrated XM satellite radio, MP3/WMA playback

capability, hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth

® wireless technology and eight speakers; three-door
    Smart Key system; leather-trimmed interior; heated front seats with driver lumbar support; step lamp;

    illuminated entry; driver and front passenger water repellant windows; upgraded front and center pillar trim;

plasma cluster; auto dimming mirror and HomeLink

In 2010 the Prius IV and V came with leather seats and heated front seats. No need to get the advanced tech package to get those features. 2010 brochure attached below, which details all features/options by trim level.

    What is this "
Hybrid Synergy Drive® blue accent badges and headlamps

    "
I have seen the 2010s. Their headlight do not look any more blue than the 2012?

Awesome thanks for the clarification. So do you know if they changed it in 2011, 2012 or both.
I guess this would be a good reason for me to hunt down a 2010 with heated leather seats.

Yes, it has blue accent badges. Yes, it has headlamps, but they aren't blue.

You can get a 2012 Five without the AT package- with the Softex heated/power seats, LED headlights, Auto-dimming mirror, etc..
For 2012 Toyota moved from leather to Softex for their premium seating surface- I had it in my 2012 Five- it's really nice.

Interesting that you can the 2012 without the AT. I am keeping my options open as far as new vs used. I am leaning towards used (2010), but if I Can get a 2012 with the options I want with a price point in my budget I would do that as well. R

The other question I would have is bluetooth options, as it sees, to be a bit confusing as the 2010s only have ad2p music streaming on AT models. Is that still the case in 2012?

Worst case scenario I find a 2010 with leather seats and an aftermarket deck in.
Thank you for all the helpfully tips. This is a terrific community.

It is hard to find a Five w/o the ATP. I tried. No one local had one in stock. I mainly opt'ed for the Five for the LED headlamps, but I got suckered out of 5K for the ATP.

Honestly, only useful feature is the Radar Cruise. LKA is a hit and miss, especially when there are shadows on the the lane, and when the lanes curves too much. I did not even bother to turn on the Safety Connect.

Not sure if the HUD was part of the ATP. If so, the 2nd useful feature.

The 2012 model year had significant changes to the trim levels and available options. See Exclusive: 2012 MY Prius - Changes and Additions | PriusChat. There are a few mistakes (or things that didn't happen per what's listed). For instance, backup camera doesn't come on model Two.

On 2010 and 2011, you could only get Bluetooth A2DP streaming if you had nav package or above (e.g. solar roof or advanced technology). On 2012, you get it even on model Two and don't need nav.

Take a look at 2012 Toyota Prius Features & Specs re: the '12.

Would you guys recemend not putting in an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth streaming?
That to me is #1 option priority. My wife would disagree and say that going with the leather seats would be better as we hope to drive this car for a long time. I

'd prefer to not pay more then 25k (I'm in Canada ) , with all fees and taxes in. I see some used 2010s with the leather and the Bluetooth for around 22k , but none have the navigation system. The 2012s here start at 26k + the options would raise it to 30k plus taxes and fees. Ugh....

The Toyota nav sucks- that's been posted so many times here it would be unwise to ignore.
If the nav is the sticking point- ignore it- get a $125 Garmin, it's head and shoulders above the PITA Toyota nav, and most of the Garmin units for that price now include lifetime map updates and lifetime traffic... which the Toyota units don't. The map update for the Toyota nav is $200+ BTW..

Oh! You should've mentioned that. The option packages/trim levels I think are different for Canada.

I don't know how accurate the Canada section of 3G Prius (2010-?) Standard and Optional Equipment (Some Countries) | PriusChat is, but we do have some Canadian Gen 3 Prius owners...

It's not the nav I'm interested in, only the bluetooth music streaming support for music. That's my biggest sticking point.
Leather heated seats would be very nice, but not critical to what I'm looking for.

Yeah looks like the Canadian option packages are quite different.
I'm going to see a local dealer this week and try to get it clarified. The 2012s have some incentives right now in Canada 1000$ + .9 financing. It's something but not great.

The difference in a used 2010 prius with the options I want and a 2012 with similar options is around 5000$. But the new cars have that fright to add in. I hate the thought on buying a new car because of the depreciation factor when I could by used
