Prius 2011 with 29MPG trouble!

    Hi folks

    I have recently my Prius 2011 (100 mile) dropped mileage from 38 to 30 and sometimes 28 mpg !
    nothing hase been changed since the last month niether the oil :)
    I have techstream with MVCI cable (obdc to USB) cable and can connect to ECU to change some customization setting like buzzer, alarm, security alarm and so on.
    I tested batary blocks voltage using batary drain and showing no issue on any cell, and while driving batary showing very good level at all times.
    I dont have check engine light one, but I feel the problem is with gas engine, i might be the sparks (lately changed on 80k mile), or sensors (fule, intake air, ... etc).
    Here comes my question: is there a parameter/setting file or a guide for techstream application to read all performance counters and compare it with normal range to report the issue.

    Bet it's the 12V gone bad, test it when the car has been parked a while. Nothing else would cause that drastic of a drop.

    The onboard computers are doing that......all the time.
    If they see a problem, a light lites and a code is set.
    But they can't see EVERYTHING.
    In addition to what was already mentioned, a dragging brake can kill your gas mileage.
    So can a failing 12 V battery.

    Batteries can be tested. No need to change it blindly.......unless maybe if it is 7 years old or more.
    If you do need a new battery, you should get one that is made for THAT car.
    The size needs to be right, as well as the type of posts.

    BUT.....if you are smelling raw gas from the exhaust, that likely means that there is a problem with the fuel system.
    Maybe an injector or two stuck partially open.
    This may require the services of a mechanic.

    Is "JO" Jordan? No offense, but it's a struggle deciphering acronyms sometimes.

    How many miles does the car have, on the odometer?

    What kind of driving are you doing typically?

    I assume no warning lights?

    How to test battery?, I have multimeter, and it showing 12.3 today morning after overnight idle; is that good?
    For the stucked injectors, I suppose that will fire a warning light right? but no light showing on the dash.

    Yes dear, JO is Jordan country in the middle east, the car having 104K mile and no warning lights on my dash.
    driving conditions ... i think it is hard to classify, it is all city drive in Amman, but Amman city having many hills and mountains in addition to heavy traffic ... but I used to have ~40mpg, my friend having 45mpg, and some guys reported 50mpg

    HV battary tested and all cells reported consistant voltages (discharge test)

    12.3 is low, start by replacing it, then move on to more complicated things if the mpg doesn't come up.
    best way to buy a 12v battery is to find a seller that matches it to a 2011 prius. otherwise, you might have fitment issues, cross polarization or vent tube problems.

    that being said, a 2011 with 100k needs an intake and egr circuit cleaning, and an oil catch can f you can manage it.

    Battery changed, mpg now 32, i need to proceed with other, EGR clean, but what is oil catch can, is it the same of cleaning the engine from inside using engine cleaning fluids

    An oil catch can is a container with with air inlet and outlet, and a labyrinth of some sort. The idea is to take in air with oil-mist, and capture the oil portion, just allow the air to exit. You need to periodically empty it of the oil/water/gas it accumulates.

    It's typically spliced into the hose between Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve (mounted on the crankcase side wall) and the intake manifold. The object is to reduce the oil mist being dumped into the intake manifold.

    A clean EGR system and intake are definitely important for fuel economy.

    There are also reports of fuel pumps failing sometime after 100k. They begin with worse fuel economy. What happens is the fuel pressure is too low to properly spray and vaporize the fuel. So some fuel escapes without being burned in the engine.

    There is a schrader valve that you can connect a gauge to and check the fuel pressure.
