I've a Prius 2 c, 25,000. Bought used. Don't normally drive with DRL on, unless on highways. Headlights are very dim (for me). I want the strongest, brightest lights w/o shorting out my car. **Apologize if this is already a thread. I did a search, and nothing came up.

Please be gentle with me. I'm here for help, not criticism.

This is what I'm using, they are extremely bright compared to halogen bulbs. I got the 5000k

Thanks! Could I install myself or do I need to rent "a husband for the day"? ;)

It's pretty easy to install, just check some videos in YouTube on how to install hid kit. It might also be easier for you since ladies have smaller hands.

    You're most welcome

If you don't know this already, you need the H11 bulb kit.

Quick question. Where did you mount your ballasts? Can you send pic?

Oh gosh. Another question. So I need both the HID kit from Amazon and the Xenon kit?

I don't have that exact kit, but my LEDs use small ballasts as well. I chose to zip tie mine under the metal support arm that's above the bulb sockets.

I'm confused. Velisam said I need the HID, then in another chat, he said I needed the Xenon kit. Do I need both kits?

I'm under the impression that HID is a synonym-sh for Xenons. I believe the term 'xenon' has been slangly expanded to include a slight blue color range in halogen and LED descriptions, or a marketing descriptor for implied HID-like performance.

I believe you just need one kit, I'd go with the HID kit to save on any possible confusion. My only hearsay advice is go with a brand that's well known, as well as purchase from a reputable seller. There's lots of counterfeits on the market; ebay is rife with those.

    *edit*
Maybe he meant you need the HID bulb as well as the HID ballasts? I know they come in kits with everything together, as well as separately. For comparative costs, I thought I'd paste in some links for HID/LED options.
xenondepot xtreme leds, brightest I could find:
H11 LED Headlight Kit | H11 LED Foglight Upgrade
Philips HID bulb only, brightest I could find:
    D1S Philips X-tremeVision +50% HID Bulb 4800K 85415 [85415XVC1] - $129.99 : Philips Xenon HID Lights Bulbs Ballasts Kits
Some effort on google, or someone with more creative shopping skills may be able to get better prices.

Since you mentioned you got the car 2nd hand, have you tried replacing the halogens with new ones to see if that solves the dimness issue? Your profile mentions that you have a 2014 C, if the bulbs are ~2 yrs old I'd assume some of the filament has migrated to the inside of the bulb and they'd have lost a bit of effectivity. Replacing the halogens is a cheap test to see if you really need to go the more expensive HID/LED route.

Hmmmm good idea. I hope that helps. I'll replace halogens first. Thanks!

just buy the kit in the link that I sent.
HID = high intensity discharge = xenon

Find an existing screw that will fit thru the mounting bracket hole. There should be a few around the headlight locations in each side. See which one will work best for you.

    Two cautions here:

Be sure that your replacement bulbs do NOT have a higher wattage rating than the originals.
If they do consume more wattage they will run hotter and can melt parts of the headlight assembly or char wires and connectors.

If the replacement bulbs don't get you what you want, you need to know that many "blindingly bright" replacement headlights are ILLEGAL for street use........because they are BLINDINGLY bright.

If you don't trust yourself with bulbs buy latex gloves $3-$5. Will save you money in the end so you don't touch the bulbs with your bare hands.
