AnyOne No Why My Yellow Prius C 2014 One With 101,949 Miles Will Not Start After Sitting For A Month? I Had Sitting In The Back Of My House. Could My Hybrid Battery Be The Cause But It Is Unlucky. I Had Trouble Jump Starting It Last Night. It Wouldn’t Even Jump Start. I’m Thinking My 12V Is The Main Reason Since My 12V Tested At 9.19 Volts But I Can’t Be Sure. I Need To Fix This Before My Hybrid Battery Can Die And The Big Bucks Come In. I Think This Could Be A Bigger Problem Because I Opened The Hood And I Saw No Engine Coolant. Could This Lead To A Engine Coolant Leak? Please Advise.

you are correct sir. replace the 12v with a fresh fully charged one and go from there.

and don't let it sit. if you are not driving most days, keep a maintainer on it

What IS it that causes your posts to have every word capitalized line that ?
Whatever it is, it is REALLY distracting.......especially with no punctuation or sentence breaks either.

Yes, your 12 V battery probably has finally died. Almost guaranteed if it is the original.

Not likely that it is the HV battery but possible.

Not starting has nothing to do with the coolant level.......unless the head gasket is bad and the cylinders are full of coolant.

Picked up a battery from Toyota this morning and had them install it but afterwards after driving for 15 minutes I got these lights. I got a diagnostic from Toyota and after I went back to them and they gave me this. You have a bad hv battery also needs a cleaning in the fan and multiple misfires in the engine with the blown engine head gasket plus an oil change.. since your out of warranty the total price would be 6,569$ in total I don’t won’t to pay that much for this car I just paid $500 for a 12v battery replacement. I think the car may be a goner. :(

    So sorry to hear that.
BUT.....any shop that would charge you $500 for replacing the 12 V battery might LIE to you about other things too.
A second diagnostic from a different dealership might be in order.

    $500 Ouch.

I don't know how I missed you had already bought the 12v battery. Suggesting you buy the battery for $187 and DIY install might be salt in the wound.

I know Hybrid drive batteries are avail from $500-900 and entire replacement gasoline engines for under $500 - No idea of the labour costs involved in a job like that.

If you're not a DIY'er, maybe post your city and some members might be able to suggest someone local who can help.

This dealership in Frederick MD said I have misfires in the Engine and a bad Hybrid Battery but I do need a cleanIng in the Hybrid Fan. They said I do need A Head Gasket Replacement. They said I do need a Oil Change as well. The total would be 6,569$. I do have a new code now c1310. So I guess the the other Dealership wasn’t lying. Which sucks. :( Is this my fault from letting the Prius sit for a month? What are my options? I see there engines for around 500$ from Rob. I’m In leesburg va

it is not your fault, it is toyotas fault for poor engine design, and hybrid battery that only lasts 100k.

the only thing sitting for a month did was kill the 12v and exacerbate an already failing hybrid battery.

call up corporate and ask for goodwill warranty assistance.

alternatively, seek out a good mech who can do the whole job for around 4k.

Note that this was posted from Texas......where a little snow storm recently almost KILLED their whole power grid.
Rumor has it that the grid was built with sub-standard parts and procedures.
Maybe like the parts suggested above.
(Sorry I couldn't resist. BUT trying to get stuff that is TOO cheap often is a serious mistake.)

Are you familiar with "playing the odds" ?
While the odds are small, it is possible that all or most of those codes that they are taking as gospel are caused by a problem with the 12 V battery or it's main connections.
Before you let ANYBODY talk you into spending a crap load of money, please make absolutely sure that your 12 V system is good.
That might mean spending a couple of hundred on a new battery if it is very old because almost nobody seems to know how to test one correctly these days.

How many miles do you have on your car? Does it consume oil?

This is the first time I heard a Prius C had a blown head gasket. Anybody has heard it before?

For a Prius c with 101k to have a blown head gasket, bad hv battery and dead 12v battery in one month is unusual. However it was verified by two dealers plus it had no visible coolant. Odds are good the head gasket was bad when you parked it and the hv battery was weak. You probably did kill the 12v battery with one month of inactivity on an old 12v battery.

We know the other standard and Prius v wagon versions of 2014 are experiencing all of these things along with many that have high oil consumption due to bad ring and piston design. It is very possible your c shares the problems even though it is a 1.5L design. We know the c has an egr system as well which some believe is a smoking gun, however it is a different design than a standard Prius and is interchangeable through 2019 leading me to believe it is a better design than the others.

Given you could buy another c at retail for $6k up, it makes no sense to spend more to fix yours EXCEPT if its exceptionally clean and you love the color and options. If you did fix it right, you would have an engine and battery that could easily go another 150k. I would only go with a used engine that was rebuilt, not just a head gasket on your engine. I would only go with a new hv battery or one with all new cells. Both for $6k if you shop quality independent hybrid mechanics.

I would not buy yet another 12v battery.

Alternatively, you gamble with a used engine that is not rebuilt or simply a head gasket job. Same goes for a "rebuilt" battery.

I would not worry about the hv battery until I was sure about the path forward on the head gasket. Warranties on rebuilt batteries are a joke.

Is their anyone who does engines for cheap in Leesburg VA? Does need a different engine for each trim? I have one trim. Would a engine swap before easier? Can I swap any engine for a Prius C 2012-2017 for my 2014? Anyone know if their is a recall for Prius C 2014 One? I had the car since May 31st 2014.
