i think i am going back to my diy plugin topic about the canbus
    its working now
    next steps wil be

    -looking into canbus spoofing...
    -charging the prius battery pack
-connecting a permanent pc to canbus
-putting in ad battery's HV in series or LOw voltage and DC-DC converted ( not sure yet )

I expres my thx's to timster for the elmscan conversion
and i thank [email protected] for providing the source-code
of course also the original writer that i do not now!
so i can make a working program for my plugin conversion:)

picture's of the working program attached
its taking some time because the original timster elmscan source-code that i got did not fully work
only the gas padel info displayed and nothing else
i needed to change some code to get it working and it was a lot off work.

but i got it working.. now to see if i can get some more info
like aux battery voltage ( to see if its charging )
and make a more final version of the program.
and see if its possible to get the 384kbps to a higher setting... because it only works on 384kpbs at this moment.

Good deal, but I have some questions:
    • Are you passively polling all data or is there a command-response?
    • Do you have a list of data elements you can monitor/record?
    Thanks,
    Bob Wilson

the prius canbus monitor now filters out the info you want and simply displays them on the screen.
    so its passively

next step will be to try and send a fake battery command SOC.....

not sure yet how i can make the elmscan send a ID thats not from the elmscan but the same s the HV battery ecu

and more! here > The new 2004 Toyota Prius : My CAN Project

So the messages are a stream and you pick what you want at whatever rate they are displayed?

I'm less interested in faking a battery command than in trying to read out the diagnostic codes and sub-codes. Is that on your "to do" list?

    Thanks,
    Bob Wilson

While I hate to post a "me too" message, I just received my ELM 327 interface today and would like to start playing with it. I would be grateful if someone could send me the data logging software. Thanks!

Thanks for the software! I love it! The thing that has surprised me the most so far is exactly how much regenerative braking is possible. I guess I had assumed that the friction brakes took over a lot sooner than they actually do when you really step on the brake. I'm also looking forward to making lots of charts and graphs from the CSVs that the app creates! Thanks again!

Does anyone have a source for the OBDII plug - the part that plugs into the Prius OBDII socket?

Multiplex Engineering - Cables - has a plug with an unterminated cable where I could add a DB9. However, they have a minimum order of $50, and just the bare, unwired OBDII plug would work fine!

    Any suggestions?

Sorry but I've read the whole thread and I'm a little confused on what cables/adapters are needed. Now that the software has been adapted for the Elm 327, is that all I need in addition to the software? Not clear how the cable Ken found fits into all this...

    Thanks,

    Curt

So is literally all I need the Elm 327 (and of course a laptop and the software discussed in this thread)?

Have you read the ELM327 datasheet?
Are you confident to build the circuit shown on the page 48 of the datasheet?
The EML327 is less powerful than the CAN232.
    My recommendation is using CAN232.

OK, so the answer is NO, I don't just need the Elm 327, I also need to build a circuit. For CAN 232, is that all that is required - nothing extra to build or buy?

You'll need CAN232, plus OBD-II cable shown at post #133 and RC232C cable to your PC.
