Prius Classic Exhaust

    My 02 prius has 196000 mls and needs a catalytic converter. My mechanic quoted $1500 with Toyota parts. I've seen after mkt catalytic converters for a couple hundred dollars. Has anyone used an after mkt product? If so which one and how many miles have you gotten on it so far?

    The Cat is not a separate piece, so you either need most of the exhaust system replaced (muffler/tailpipe is a separate piece) or have the original Cat cut off and new one attached which could be difficult if your exhaust is rusty. BTW, used Cats are worth at least $40 to recycling yards so if the shop is keeping your old Cat factor that into their price.
