Prius durability

    Interesting article here.

    It will be interesting to see how durable the Li-ion battery in the Prime is compared to the NiMH ones, of course.

    It took me quite awhile to decide on a Prius and that was only after reading stories about Prius' with 300k miles getting replacement batteries and testing out on a dyno within 1-2% of brand new specifications.

    so far, the 2012's are going strong. 7 + years is a decent amount of track record, and prime should be quite a bit improved

    otoh, gen3 engine seems to be less durable than gen2, and i question his statement that 'many have been replaced after 200 and 300,000 miles.'
    that's too vague for me, no better than 'many don't make it to 200,000 miles.

    also, i get the impression that he doesn't know most gen4 got lithium. i had to check the article date to make sure it was current
