I just traded in my 2004 Prius on a new 2006 and had fun turning down the dealer's first offer of an unspecified ext. warr. at "discounted" $1350 (because I had suckered and bought Gold for my 2004 at the same dealer). I told him I'd just wait and buy when my 2006 approached the 36,000 mile Toyota Prius warranty expiration. He was very persuasive about prices going up for the extension, but when I told him that I had turned in my 04 Gold and purchased a Platinum, making about $400 on the deal, with much better potential benefits, he quickly offered to meet the competition's price, even though "he couldn't see how the other guy could stay in business selling at that price." I took it, because this is probably the last new car I'll ever buy.

    Call Troy.
