Prius G2 2010 started to reduce engine oil

    I am very new to this forum.

    I am trying to figure out the issue of the engine oil reducing for my car. I have been changing it on 3000KM. But some how for the last engine oild change it was 0.75 litter reduced.

    I have tested in cold environment, it throws white smoke (steam)

    What can be the possible causes and cures?

    how many kms on her? are you sure it is not gen3?

    2010 is a G3 car.

    White steam out of exhaust is blown head gasket. Lots of reports of that over in the G3 forum. Go over to that forum and read up on that.

    Come on Ed.....really.....NOT.

    Some white steam when started cold is NORMAL and is due to condensation of the moisture in the hot exhaust gasses.

    A LOT of white steam that never really goes away completely likely would be a head gasket.
    OR it really is white smoke, caused by increased oil usage due to normal wear........IF the engine has high miles.

    That's pretty often to be doing oil changes.

    Your car is about 8 years old. It the mileage is high, it might be "normal" wear and tear......but .75 liter in 3000 km is quite a bit.

    You probably need a mechanic to look for leaks and maybe do a compression test.

    "High mileage" thicker oil might help some.......but not if there are leaks.

    The current milage is 160,000KM +
    There are no leaks for engine oils.

    I have checked the PCV valve is is clean.

    Using 20 50 oil

    I have no idea.
    I think you need a "real" mechanic to look it over.

    Are you REALLY changing the oil every 3000 KM ?
    Or are you just adding oil every 3000 Km ??

    An experienced nose taking a sniff of the plume coming out of the tail pipe might tell you a LOT.
    If it smells like radiator coolant, then other tests would likely be a waste of time and money.

    2010 is gen2 in some parts of the world. or is 2009 gen3?(n)

    picture looks like gen2.

    I believe there was a limited edition or commemorative edition of the Gen 2 that continued into 2010 and was only sold in Japan.

    Something like that, but my memory of the details are a bit sketchy.

    Yes i am changing the oil every 3000KM, not adding to fill to the.

    There is not any knocking or change in engine noise. it is smooth as it was before the oil issue.

    Yes, it is Japan edition. it was imported to my country in 2014

    .75 ltr after 3k km is normal
    I have same issue and search alot regarding this all I understand it's normal
    White smoke exist if all time then you need to replace assembly head do go for any repair
