In the last week the prius has been acting weird.

    I have a 2006 155k miles prius

It only happens after I drive the car for while.

The problem is that everytime I shut off the car, the dash board lights come back up (ig-on mode). I have to press the button again to completely shut it off.

    weird.

I changed the 12v battery less than 6 months ago and I checked the battery using the MDF and it seems fine. Always above 12v even with the lights on. Although I have to tell you that I checked the 12v battery right after a 30 min drive.

    what do you guys think?

Has this car ever been in an accident or have a Salvage title? Do you put the car in "Park" before shutting down?

maybe it's a defective power button, but i would recheck the battery at the jump point under the hood after everything has been off for a few hours.

So, It turned out to be the 12v battery.

Anything less than optimal state of this 12v battery and the prius starts acting super funny.

I am glad it wasn't something else though.

    Thanks to those that contributed.

batteries have a couple different checkpoints. cold voltage is one, and can range from 13.0 (new) down to the low 12's. but even a battery that measures okay when cold, may have serious drawdown issues.

did they replace it for free?
