Prius paint

All dealers here, no matter the brand offer it as well - though at a price. After you sign up for the car, they take you via a good looking young lady who tries to on-sell Paint Protection, Rust Proofing (for $1000!! - "oh - so my new car will rust"?) Tint, Finance, Insurance - No, No, No, No, No. Go elsewhere and it's cheaper. Try googling Auto Paint Protection.

 

I suspect they're all much the same - new paints are free of volatile solvents, water borne instead - much different from those of previous decades (and centuries) - and I don't think as tough.

 

So Alan what is the year of that gorgeous car in your avatar?

Also I use a full synthetic wax several times a year and do two coats when it is new. 2001 space odyssey.

BTW, waiting for transparent aluminum to be invented.

 

^^^^^Buy a couple cans of this. Apply it like wax... It does the same thing, makes your car unbelievably shiny and with a couple to a few coats leaves a nice hard protective coating that lasts months.

Recomemded to me by a autobody / detail shop owner. Works especially good on black cars. I was told apply it before the winter and again in the spring. Of course you can do it more often but at a minimum to protect the paint that's what was recommended.

It's sold on Amazon. Probably elsewhere too.

She was my first car - unfortunately, the only photo I've got. I bought her in 1972 and had her for about 2 years. She was a 1956 FJ Holden, the last year of the series - Holden was part of the GM empire. Apparently the design was to be a "small Chevrolet" Post-War (WW2!!), but not big enough for Chev, so brought over to Australia - at least that's one of the yarns. The FJ was a 1953 update of the first Holden (called 48-215) released in 1948.



She was 2 tone Green - the photo below ISN'T HER, but this is what her colour was like (when I had her, I don't think COLOUR PHOTOGRAPHY was invented - or at least in my price range).



BUT - I've still got the same Registration Number (NAX-125) which I bought 11 yrs ago as personalised plates when I realised I could remember all my Rego Numbers from 20, 30, 40 yrs ago, but not the last 15 yrs.

 

Basically

My uncle had a 53 Chevy that looked like this. The ride was incredible. Think is was a straight 6 with a couch for a seat.

 

She was my first car, an FJ Holden, 1956 - Holden was part of the GM Empire. The story goes that it was destined to be a Post-War small Chevrolet, but rejected and fobbed off to Australia to make - it was initially released in 1948 as the 48-215 model, and updated in 1953 as the FJ, running till 1956. Sadly this is the only photo I have of her.


She was 2 toned green - THIS ISN'T HER, but this is her colour - I didn't have colour photography at the time:


She was immaculate, had been owned by the dealer as his private car for 15 years - I only kept her for 2 years, replacing her with a later model which wasn't as good a car really. But I've got her number plates back (well, reprinted ones) for my last 4 cars. I could remember number plates back to when I was 5yrs old, but not the ones from the last 10 yrs, so decided to get ones I'd remember again.
