I'm thinking about getting the illuminated door sills for my PiP. I see PT922-47100 as the illuminated door sills for the Prius. Is there a Plug-in specific model for this part? I know the lower side moldings are different for the Plug-in vs Liftback, but I'm having trouble finding if it's different for the illuminated door sills as well.

I was one of the first to get PIP off the boat from Japan 4 years ago.. I installed the door sills, and it was kinda cool at first.
My advice, save your money and do not bother as it gets dirty, and is an over sight like the floor mats.

That's a lot for the ids. The 3rd gen one costs around $140 (obviously not including labor, but anyone buying it should do it themselves).

I come back to it every few months and decide to get them, but then decide to save it for later since I know they are not worth it (but I still kinda want them anyways). I was looking into it again, and was confused since I thought the PiP one was different than the liftback, but I think I just had it confused with the satin silver lower door moldings.

Me too, but then I'd get the lower door moldings, and then want to put the fog light kit on it as well. As soon as I start doing one thing to it, I won't want to stop, so I'm afraid that $140 would end up costing a lot more... :D

Huh. I don't know if te parts are different. In Canada, Touring and Technology models of the Gen 3 (most years) got illuminated door sills. I think the PiP AT in Canada got it as well. I think it looks great. I installed red LEDs for the door courtesy lights so the red and blue contrast nicely.

Our 2010 Touring came with them. But I don't really care. Some kind of door sills are nice though, for scuff protection.

i don't put my feet on the sills, but for cheap money, it must look good at night.

    I've seen them in a Lexus RX400h, and I'll say it's a nice touch. Whether it's a $140 nice touch depends lol.

Mine were fine until recently, then the edges got scuffed. Really, it's mostly a dress up item. Black plastic door sill protectors work well enough.

I still like them though :)

The back door ones are also metallic, but not illuminated. Had to go check just now, lol.

coolest money i spent so far on my Prius Plug In... my Toyota Dealership did the install for a great deal. Seriously, you won't regret it !! It's an instant bang for your buck when you open the doors and see the illumination vs the black plastic (oem). Hope this helps. Oh, shop around (toyota dealer part shops only) and THEN take that price and politely ask if your locale dealer will price match, they 'should' !! IMG_1188.JPG

I just noticed that the Gen 4 doesn't have door sill protectors (not even black plastic ones)

Was that the case on lower level gen 3? Might have asked this already. And maybe it depends on country too.

No. The Prius has always had black plastic door sill protectors. Toyota's being creative with cost cutting. (e.g. the last gen Corolla was missing front door courtesy lights. I forgot to check if they're still missing in the latest gen)
