Prius Plugin's lack of spare tire.

I still have an original Advanced PiP tire, alloy wheel with TPMS and center cap, available for $250 for anyone in the Boston area looking for a full sized spare tire. I also still have a 2012 Advanced PiP to go with the tire if you need one

 

Stupid question but are advanced PiP tires different from base ?
and price of your 2012 Advanced PiP and miles ?

 

. Which is better? You get a flat, and change it, then see about repair/replacement, on your terms. OR: Toyota sends a wrecker, he drags it to the dealer, the dealer fixes your tire, sells you a new one, you need someone to drive you to the dealership. Repair or replace all cost something, more time is spent all the way around and probably more money. All this at the Dealerships TERMS. Don't give them a chance! Always carry your spare. An interesting procedure might be: call the wrecker and have him change your tire. During the first three years.

 

if i'm within 30 miles of home, i hope i can get someone (honey, are you listening? ) to bring my tire to me. of course, i don't have a phone, so that makes it a bit more problematic.

$27K, I'm in the Boston area, so that's where you would have to test drive it/pick it up/arrange for shipping. Yes, the Advanced PiP has alloy wheels.

 

No phone? As in no cell phone? Pretty odd in this day and age (but not unheard of).

Maybe consider a cheap prepaid phone for emergencies. My mom has a cheapo Virgin Mobile phone and has to just top it off w/$15 every 3 months to keep it active. There are no free night/weekend minutes. Each call costs some $ out of the accumulated credit but the credit doesn't expire and isn't forfeited so long as you keep topped off.

It sure is a heck of a lot cheaper than most contract cell plans.

 

I got rid of my cell phone years ago and haven't missed it for a minute. The world still turns.

. Same situation here, my Son keeps trying to talk me into a cheap model. But, I still havn't figured out what I need one for. I have handled a few emergencies previously without one. i would probably get one for emergency like cwerda said if push came to shove, but my wife has one and we're usually together for longer trips.

 

2012 model and equipment info from Toyota lists the same tires and wheels for both base and advanced PiPs.

 

In case of emergency, there's plenty of cell phone users around, like the guy next to you in a restaurant, or at the supermarket, or behind you in a movie theatre, or in the bank line, etc.. You can usually hear the rather than see them, since they usually yell their conversations like they're talking into a soup can with a string attached.
