Prius Plus Package - Order aftermarket

Is anyone else considering this?

I have already installed the rear sway bar and plan to do the lowering springs next. I will keep my 15" wheels because I already have grippier tires on there. No point in spending the extra dough for the 17" wheels when the improvements are likely to be minimal.

 

Mike, the improvement from 15s to 17s is the biggest difference you can make to the car. Mine does well with the suspension and 15s but it feels like I can corner half again as fast with the 17s. The 15s simply cannot handle the corners as fast. The drawback is the mpg drop and tires are more expensive.

 

Not to mention improvement in looks. You might as well skip the lowering springs if you're going to stick with stock 15s IMO.

I thiNk the GenII looks somewhat ok lowered on 15s but needs 17s to really look nice. The picture of the Tanabe car Mike just posted looks great on the oem 15s, however.

 

That Prius was the tester for the Tanabe coilovers, and I think that picture is of the lowest setting.

I agree that a lowered car would look a bit better with upsized rims. Go with 16s, a good compromise between performance and efficiency.

 

This is my exact problem I'm dealing with now. Do I get 205/55R16's or 205/50R17's?

 

I'd have to say that mud flaps and removing the wheel covers helped the stock 15s tremendously with the stance, although I'm not a fan of the uncovered wheel design.

 

I like the 205/55 16s on my car. They are very responsive and lighter than 17s. Handles like a charm also.
