Prius Prime Advanced Text Message

    So maybe it's just me who can't seem to figure it out. But according to the manual i should be able to reply to text messages using my voice and with my iPhone 7 I am not able. I've tried to google a fix and got the text message to appear for me but still no reply option. Anyone have any luck?

    go to your bluetooth profile on your iphone and enable "show notifications" to on.

    We need a car that you can talk to and say do this or that and it is done. No need for a manual of confusion about how something works. Maybe a car called Hal.

    I have an iPhone 7 and it doesn't work and it didn't with my old iPhone 6 either.

    There is a Toyota Service Bulletin TSB 0236-17 that is supposed to update the radio head for Premium and Advanced trim levels. It was released July 10, 2017. My contact tells me that this may improve the behavior of an iPhone 7 with a Prime.

    And is that an automatic self-loading update or does it have to be done by a dealer?

    The update MUST be done by a dealer. I've had it installed and it improved the connection between my iPhone 7 and the car. Fixed a bunch a bugs.

    Is there some way to look up a list of changes in each TSB or at least a list of all TSBs available? maybe some website that lists them...

    If you're using an iPhone, the head unit isn't capable of sending text messages as the iPhone does not allow. If you want to send a message via your car, push and hold the off-hook button on the steering wheel and it'll initiate a Siri Eyes-Free session where you can send text messages via voice.

    Has receiving texts been taken away in Apples latest iOS in the Prime? Or does something with the Prime software need to be updated again?

    I can not receive SMS Messages or Emails even though "Show Notifications" is turned on under the device in Bluetooth. I think it is Apple's iOS that is the issues since it doesn't recognize the Bluetooth name except at the initial pairing. It will call my Prime "Evey" when it is first paired which is the name of the Bluetooth in system settings but every subsequent pairing will be "Toyota Prius" I have NO IDEA where the iOS is getting this name from. iOS 12.1.3

    This function did work once with my old 4s iPhone when I first got the car but never with my iPhone 8 or my wife's 10.
