Achieving the better fit right away would have required additional cost and possible longevity tradeoff. It simply makes no sense to rush when you consider the state of the market as a whole.

Think about how much is changing right at this very moment as a result of tax-credit phaseout.

Thanks. Some folks around here are really touchy about other peoples opinions ( especially over on the Tesla board..haha ).

I was never trying to say that the prime isn't a fine vehicle. In fact, I think it is one of the best in the fleet. However, I'm willing to wait until the 'next generation' to see if they tweak battery packaging and such. I'm betting they will.

Frankly, in my opinion the Hyundai Ioniq plugin does a much better job of battery packaging than the current Prime. There are some pics of the Ioniq plugin trunk here :

There are benefits to higher cargo floor. One particular for me is that it is easier to load and unload without hurting my back. I appreciate OP and others like Lee Jay sharing their experiences with pictures.

hmm... get the product out before it has been refined properly to keep the price down to encourage more sales, or wait until it has been refined and lose the sales in that amount of time.

a conundrum no doubt. in a hot market, i think i could see it, but in this lackluster market, i'm not sure it matters.

either way, it has made many thousands of people very happy

Could you please share info/pictures of the spare and how you've secured it in the luggage van?
