Prius Prime - cargo in back

Thanks. Some folks around here are really touchy about other peoples opinions ( especially over on the Tesla board..haha ) .

I was never trying to say that the prime isn't a fine vehicle. In fact, I think it is one of the best in the fleet. However, I'm willing to wait until the 'next generation' to see if they tweak battery packaging and such. I'm betting they will.

Frankly, in my opinion the Hyundai Ioniq plugin does a much better job of battery packaging than the current Prime. There are some pics of the Ioniq plugin trunk here :

There are benefits to higher cargo floor. One particular for me is that it is easier to load and unload without hurting my back. I appreciate OP and others like Lee Jay sharing their experiences with pictures.

hmm... get the product out before it has been refined properly to keep the price down to encourage more sales, or wait until it has been refined and lose the sales in that amount of time.

a conundrum no doubt. in a hot market, i think i could see it, but in this lackluster market, i'm not sure it matters.

either way, it has made many thousands of people very happy

 

Could you please share info/pictures of the spare and how you've secured it in the luggage van?

 

Not sure you will see this. What spare tire did you buy? Do you mind sharing a photo of how you manage to fit the spare to maximize space? Thanks!

 

While you wait for @E-GINO, here's my setup. I installed a D-ring and strapped the spare to it. The Prime has threaded holes in the front corners of the cargo area you can use after removing the plastic covers.


There are quite a few threads here on spare tire options. I got mine for a little over $100 on E-Bay.
