Prius Prime in-hand FINALLY! - Chicago

    Finally, took hold of my blizzard pearl prius prime advanced w/ moonstone interior... Picked up the car from DC and drove it straight back to chicago... Feeling special considering no dealerships in the area can get a timeline on ordering a prime... Glad I didn't wait as I was filling up gas pretty much every 2-3 days w/ my Audi... So definitely nice still having a near full tank of gas after 150+ miles... Will post pictures soon!

    Congratulations! How long since you ordered it?

    That's exactly what we ordered too, by the way, although we told them that red would be acceptable as well.

    I got lucky. I guess the car was at the dealership already for a week w/ a few bites. So I just told them I would hold it w/ a deposit... Only options I added was illuminated door sills and all-weather mats + cargo... and lower shift and console applique

    Yup, I see where you're coming from (when it comes to where you got your car) I was all set to drive to Passport Toyota near the DC area when I notified all of the local dealers here in the Metro Detroit area that I was driving to DC to pick up my Toyota Prius Prime Premium Blue Magnetism/Black when Suburban Toyota in Troy, Michigan said they have one coming in in two days. Granted it was an Advanced model and same exterior color with Moonstone interior. I decided to go for the Suburban Toyota deal because the Passport deal was still a month and a half away. It's a great car. I traded my 11 mile EV 2015 PIP for this brand new 28 Mile EV car:D

    After several different dealers within 100 miles of Nashville, have been unable to deliver. (One even took a deposit and later refunded it) I am ready to make the drive. How did you decide on which specific dealer to deal with?

    I tried to look for a place that was within reasonable distance for a drive... I guess for me 700 miles was okay.. haha... In terms of dealerships - I was searching for prices/color combos that fit my description. Some dealerships were marking up the price so I just eliminated those. Once I got a few dealerships that fit my criteria and pricing - I reached out to them via e-mail to ask them for there best OTD pricing. Unfortunately, the only thing I got out of it was $1000 toyota rebate plus 50% off accessories... some dealerships didn't even offer the rebate... Most of the dealerships were very hesitant on dealing with out-of-state buyers, except for the one I dealt with in DC. They were very accommodating and stated that they would hold the car for me w/ a deposit (i gave them a credit card - but they never charge anything)... they just held it and took it off there website in good faith... all-in-all a good experience... though their financing people could use some manners...

    Thanks for your reply. I have used a similar approach but have been less successful so far. Were you using Autotrader or Cars to locate the vehicles? I have used both but, most of the responses I get make me wonder if they still have the car on the lot. Would you mind saying what dealer you purchased from?

    That is well over a 1,000 mile drive. Did he have a connection there or was that the closest he could find?

    Fitzgerald in Gaithersburg MD they have 4 Prius prime... 1-2 probably on lot and the other on orders... if you want my contact guy let me know... hes somewhat knowledgeable... but he's probably the least sleaziest out of the bunch... down to earth guy...

    It took me two months to find mine. Drove 350 miles to Jacksonville Florida. There was only one other car in the state and they tried marking the price up $5000. I posted that experience elsewhere and am leaving honest reviews about my experience wherever I can. I settled on the color and trim, but could not be happier.

    Mine had 5 miles on it, no charge. Been charging at night and have not spent another ounce on gasoline.
