I just got my first Prius Prime Premium and I think I got a pretty good deal (considering there were pre-owned 2017's with 20k miles that had stickers for $22k+)
    • 2018 Prius Prime Premium / Classic Silver Metallic / Black Softex Interior
    • MSRP: $30,623
    • Included all-weather floor mats, all-weather trunk liner & tonneau cover
    • $5,000 Toyota Bonus Cash (available 1/4/19-2/5/19 on 2018 models, lucky me) + $1,100 New York State Incentive
    • Dealer knocked off an extra few hundred to win my business over another local Toyota dealership
    • Final price out the door after tax, tags, dmv, etc.: $25,164.00
    • Dorschel Toyota, Henrietta (Rochester), NY
Excited to see how much Federal Tax Credit I'll end up with in 2020 to make this deal even sweeter. If any of you recommend specific threads for first-time owners, I'd love to learn as much as possible.

Just upgraded to a 2018 Prius Prime Advanced from a 2017 Premium w/ 18,800 miles:

    MSRP: 34410
    dealer discount: -2703.23
rebates: -5500.00 (4500+1000 grad rebate financing w/ TFS, will refinance later, 4.79% rate/60 mths)
all weather mats+cargo: +250 (probably overpaid at least $30 for these, didn't think to check eBay, etc)
    doc prep: +495.00
OTD price: 26951.77 (my best goal was 26400, taking in account the grad rebate, but couldn't get any lower)

Trade-in: -20000.00 (thought this was decent, edmunds lists 20400-ish for what I considered my car as)
    Loan payoff: 10857.88
    Total paid: 17809.65
    Federal credit -4502.00
    Final (effective) total: 13307.65

So I started with a 2017 w/ 18,800 miles, and ended with a new 2018 Advanced, paying an (effective) difference of 13307.65-10857.88 = 2449.77 for the upgraded new car. Also put $2500 as down payment on a 2% credit card, so that's $50 less, lol.

No tax, as I'm in NH :) Will take delivery sometime next week.
New color is Magnetic Gray Metallic (previous was classic silver)

Also realized can refinance w/ NFCU for 2.99%, 36 months. I signed up for membership years ago, as sister was in an assignment abroad. They even give a $200 bonus for this refi loan from switching from a different lender, lol.

IRA Tewksbury, it was their last one on the lot. IRA Danvers was set on 27400 via phone w/o grad rebate OTD, but there was the unknown of trade-in. Other dealers that got to that OTD price over the phone were Boch & Toyota of Braintree. Acton has a demo w/ 3k miles, but only went down to 27100 OTD, not worth it for the extra depreciation, IMO

If you buy the vehicle from out of CA then you do not qualify for the $1,500 CA rebate...... ..they require you to buy the vehicle in CA.
Most other states don't care where you buy or register in order to get their rebate.

I think you have it wrong there. Most other states require you to purchase in state. The only one I know of that doesn't is CO. There may be more, but it's still going to be in the minority.

This is Upstate NY. Settled on a dealer that I know and like, but—judging from the number of persistent responses from dealers in the area—there are a lot of shops desperate to unload the 2018 inventory. If you're willing to travel a bit and spend some time knocking down the prices, you could capture a bigger dealer discount for sure. One dealer stopped at a $1,000 discount, but several were in the range of my final deal without much pushing.

Pretty psyched that the fed tax credit will bring this down below $20K all inclusive. That seems like a great deal for a Toyota hybrid, especially with a free charger around the corner from my house.

It does look like upstate NY is the place where deals are. But if they run out of cars, there is always Riverhead, NY. They talk price over phone, text, email, whatever. But it is a few hundred dollars pricier, Hamptons are near by ! :)

What are the chances of the Toyota rebate going up again / continuing as we near the end of the current rebate period? The 2019 models I would think are coming out end of Feb / March. Is there any way we can find out what the current inventory counts are?

buyatoyota.com website is fairly accurate, I believe, but I couldn't tell what dealer had what car, just the amount of specific cars/trims for the region. The numbers seem to coincide (declining) with the previous inventory post here: Prius Prime - official prices paid thread Looking at the previous slickdeals thread from last year, it would seem like it never went higher than the current discounts.

Try cars.com, it listed the dealer's name. It can also filter by trim level, color etc. To get a more accurate price, call the dealer directly after you've located the vehicle you want.

Well, I found a unicorn deal on a brand new 2017 Advanced (Magnetic Grey), and traded in my Blizzard Pearl Plus (with 10k miles). After all tax credits, the Plus cost me about $18,900.

New Advanced: $27243 dealer advertised price
    Taxes/Title/Reg: $493
    TFS College Grade Rebate: -$500
    OTD: $27237
    - Trade in on Plus: -$20,849 = $6387
    - Federal tax credit: -$4500 = $1877
    - Oregon EV rebate: -$1500 = $387 total upgrade cost

Wish I would have seen it before the new year to hit this year's taxes, but it was such a crazy good deal I can't complain at all. Just need to get a new tint applied and update my avatar pic :)
