    PP at the top of the list in the recent annual list of Greener Cars issued by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). First time I've seen EV "fuel economy" rated at miles/kWh and not mpgE.

    Below is from that website.
    3.58 miles/kWh Hwy
    4.26 miles/kWh City

    During my 2000 miles of ownership, I've been getting in "average" minimum EV range of 25 miles and Maximum of 30 miles from the fully charged traction battery.
    Prime has 8.8 kWh battery and it seems the ICE kicks in when the battery has about 20% charge left.
    Using above data, I get below:

    Min = 25 miles / (8.8 kWh x 80%) = 3.55 miles/kWh
    Max = 30 miles / (8.8 kWh x 80%) = 4.26 miles/kWh

    That's darn close!

    About the ICE kicking in at 20% state of charge (SOC). That's consistent with most battery electric vehicles. It's my understanding that the standard is 20-80% SOC. When you hear Tesla doing over the air changes for Tesla owners during emergencies such as hurricane evacuations, they allow batteries to go above 80% SOC for longer range.

    Prime EV SOC is from 84-12% by Hybrid Assistant numbers. That's ~72% of total SOC used for EV mode. At 12% SOC, the car starts the engine and goes into HV mode.

    Better to let the computer do the work. It knows quite accurately how much of the battery it’s using and how many miles it’s moving.
