Three doors???? So with my hands full I can grab the driver door handle and NOT unlock the rear passenger doors to unload my stuff? I have to open the door and fumble around with the inside door locks? This may be more stupid than losing the rear seat. :censored:

Confused here, is there a difference?

    Prius Prime Plus
    • Quad LED Projector headlights with auto-off feature
Prius Prime Premium (in addition to or in place of Prius Prime Plus features)

Edit: Nevermind, I see it now. the plus is auto-off only, the premium gets auto on and auto off.
I was only wearing my bifocals earlier, not my trifocals....

3 doors means you can touch the driver, front passenger or hatch to unlock. you can program all doors to unlock with drivers door, or only the drivers door.

Oh, well, that's okay. Sounded like it only unlocked three doors. My old cynical mind thought maybe that was a cost saving measure.

Prime Apps (Remote Charge Management, Charging Station Map, ECO Dashboard, Remote Climate and Vehicle Finder) with 3-year complimentary trial. ....snip.... Access to Prius Prime Apps requires an active Safety Connect subscription after the 3-year complimentary trial.

After 3 years you need to pay to get remote charge management, remote A/C, ECO dash etc. 3 year planned obsolesence. or maybe they plan on only leasing them.

So far Toyota has not made any plans to charge for that stuff, but they are reserving the right, basically.

The safety connect web site says that packages can be customized with a purchase package. So, I'll ask for lifetime or something or no sale.

I thought you're not buying one since the HUD is only available on the Prime Advanced? ;)

My wife pointed out something - there's that nasty Softex in the back too, where my kids sit, and it would be easier to clean than cloth. And I could cover the fronts.

The other problem is the HB packages suck too - no way to get Homelink + cloth, no way to get HUD + no sun roof, etc. And it has no hidden storage in the back, so I'd have to build my own.

So, I have to decide from three options I don't like:

    Keep my 2004 indefinitely.
Buy a HB without homelink or underfloor storage.
Buy a Prime with lousy seat material and a high price (but a probably ~$7,000 tax break).

If only Toyota had done as well on the interior and packages as they did on the technology. It seems like they choose the dumbest people in the company to handle that. It's why I never bought a G3 - I expected them to fix it in the G4, and instead, they got some even dumber people to make it even worse.

I can't believe it doesn't come with fog lights from the first level offered. The 4th gen prius you have to get the 4 for the fog lights to be included. Doesn't the prime continue from price where the regular prius left off so shouldn't fog lights be included from the start?

Have they removed the heat pump feature -- or is that an oversight in the marketing and the press release?

Thank you for providing this information on the models offered. Now I can make an informed decision on which one would be the better value to buy. Now if only I could get a better idea of when they will be available.
