With the standard gen. 4 Hybrid you get about 1-1 1/2 miles electric range,do you get better electric range with the Prime in pure hybrid mode once the main battery is depleted? After all it has a huge battery and should be able to recapture more electric energy than the standard Prius .
i doubt it, once my pip battery is in hybrid mode, it's about the same as my old 2008. much more efficient, but can only go a mile or two at slow speeds and flat ground. i doubt prime will be much different, but why would we want it to be? if 25 miles and charge mode isn't enough, than it's the wrong car.
0-60 is the same as the HB, about 11 seconds. Prime is faster to 45-50. Charge mode will get you to a maximum of 80% charge using 1/4 to 1/3 of a gallon of gasoline. You enter charge mode by holding down Hv mode for 2 seconds. If you have depleted the battery sufficiently for it to enter Hv mode and regeneration charges the battery sufficiently, it will reenter Ev mode. Maximum electric output is 76kW in Ev mode, 53kW in Hv mode.
No, the reverse beep is job #0. That gets switched to 1 beep at the dealer while the ink is drying on the purchase papers.
Can the ICE also be supported by both elecric motors when heavy acceleration is needed or is the dual motor configuration only active in pure EV mode ?
Just one in HV since the other one is acting as a generator to transport ICE torque to the wheels. That's why it's 53kW of electrical in Hv mode and 76kW of electrical in Ev mode.
MG1 and the ICE have to also work together in hybrid mode in order to get the transaxle to act like a CVT. As for EV operation while in hybrid mode, there isn't enough energy available from the battery to bother with using both motors.
I still haven't heard the answer to the question about the back-up camera. Does it show the cars' path in reverse that changes when you turn the wheel? i.e. Does it show you how much to turn the wheel to clear a gate in reverse? Ford Flexes and others have done this for a while.
Backing up using a reverse camera is much harder and less safe than backing up using the mirrors since everything looks really far away. I only use the backup camera for objects within a couple feet of the rear bumper.
The drainage ditch at the corner of my driveway is not visible in my mirrors, or in my eyesight out the windows...and every time I stick a reflector stake there the kids steal it.
