What kind of fuel economy is to be expected using charge-mode ? Does pre-heating or cooling the car deliver satisfying results ? Can anybody say if the top speed of the Prime is the same as the hatchback ? Does the car have enough power for overtaking in pure EV-mode, more specifically is there a kind of extra punch when you put the foot down ? Once main battery is depleted and driving in HV-mode,are longer periods of driving in ev-mode possible than in the regular hatchback (~1 1/2 mile) ? How does the JBL sound, apparently Toyota put some more sound deadning in the Prime vs. 2016 Prius . !?
Not sure. I wasn't familiar enough with the display to get the Ev range up on the screen. But I did drive about 2 miles and it wasn't used up.
Thanks ! I am absolutely impressed,if I think about gen. 3 beeing rated at 50 mpg but without having to charge a big battery that seems tremendous! Can't wait to see one in person and test drive it ! Unfortunately they will not be available before March next year here .
That was a really short drive and thus a really small sample. I was just on a test drive. This was my route: https://goo.gl/maps/QqESzC36eeT2 I drove the first two legs in charge mode and the third leg in Ev mode. When I started, the battery was right at the hybrid/Ev line, but it would go into Ev mode. When I got started on the third leg, I had a few pixels of battery above the hybrid/Ev line and when I got to the end of the drive, I still had a couple pixels above that line left. Looking back at my GPS data, the charge mode was actually on for 13 minutes, not 8 minutes.
