    If they only make cosmetic changes to the Gen4, like a different logo, cupholder, etc, I'll pass.

    I'm not in the market for a Prius but have 14 years in Prius seats. My only wish is Tesla doesn't tack on a Lexus grill. FYI, if you conformally close the top grill slot, it begins to resemble my Tesla Model 3.

    If it's DIFFERENT, it almost HAS to be better.

    FWIW, I think that they got many things right in the G4.
    It gets great mileage, and 5 years in they seem to be VERY reliable,

    If they could perform some emergency, radical plastic surgery to the exterior, and put it on some adult sized rims I might be interested.
    I mean....c'mon Toyota!!
    ....even Teslas come on 18" rims (or larger)

    I'd even give up a mile or two on a gallon of petrol......

    18"?

    My 3 Gen Prius came with 17" and I'm now working on the registration document to bring it down to the basic 15". It is no sportscar to hold the same wheels (215-17") as the GT86!

    prius sales are so bad, i'm surprised they're even bothering. i know it's 20 years, but maybe announce it as even more special gen5, worth the wait.

    The Car That Changed an Industry: Toyota Marks 20th Anniversary of Prius With Special Anniversary Edition - Toyota USA Newsroom

    Here's the first look at the 20th Anniversary Prius. 17" Wheels and running with TSS 2.0. Only 2,020 will be made. Oh yeah it comes with an announcement about 2 all new Hybrids next Monday, 18 May. One will be the Sienna and the other the (old) new Venza, maybe.

    Oh yeah they came out with a Lexus GS Special Edition Black Line just as they cancelled the GS. Whither the Prius?

    Edited to change new hybrid from 4Runner to Venza.

    Yeah, I'm going to do a hard pass on the 20th anniversary Prius. If they improve the gonzo styling by 2022 or 2023, I'll buy a Prius. If not, I should be able to find a better mix of form and features in another vehicle (like the Yaris Cross if they ever bring it to the U.S.).

    What I want is a reliable hybrid vehicle that performs well, has modern electronics, and doesn't look like the Gen 4 Prius. Gen 3 looked fine, but Gen 4 went off the rails. It needs a good redesign or reversion.

    That's not hard- the Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Highlander & Avalon are all available with Prius-derived hybrid powertrains. Even more body styles coming soon.

    Remember: Prius = that particular style, but Toyota can put that hybrid powerplant in anything they want to.

    The larger vehicles aren't going to work as well for those of us who live in urban areas with tight parking spaces, and the Corolla doesn't offer the AWD option that makes life easier when there's bad weather or terrain. I'd probably go for a Corolla hybrid with AWD. But yes, there should be more hybrid purchasing options down the road to watch out for if Prius keeps going in this direction with its styling.

    AWD is overhyped. I spent 15 years driving Outbacks in NY/New England and they're nice, but I've realized that I can get the same performance, safety & utility out of a FWD car wearing snow tires. And that's considerably cheaper than AWD.

    Give that Corolla a second look and think about a second set of wheels & tires for it.

    I'll keep the Corolla in mind if there are no better options in the next few years, but I'm not keen on swapping out winter tires regularly. I'm willing to pay some more for the convenience of AWD if the hybrid feature saves me money at the gas pump. The best of both worlds.

    Consider an all-weather tire when you get your car then.

    Nokian Hakkapeliita WR series (I think it's up to WRG4 now?) is one, as are Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds. Toyo Celsius is a new comer.

    Vredestein used to sell tyres here but I'm not sure if they still do. I believe their Quatrac series is their all-weather line.

    I value fuel efficiency and a quiet car. Larger tires create more weight and more road noise.

    I hope Toyota will improve both, and offer choices/options. That way we can both be happy.
