Please help. I need to get this Prius smogged asap. It had the issue with the readout going out. I did the capacitor repair on the cluster, it worked. It used to blink the traction light and take power away like it was slipping very infrequently, it does it regularly now but that won't mess with smog and I can address that later (hope I don't have to do the Dyno thing at smog check).I have a Techstream (ts from here on) we bought because I changed out the brake actuator when we first got the Prius. I know how to use it somewhat but I could really use some assistance on getting this red triangle off. I'm going to post the best pictures I could take of the TS health check results please help interpret them thanks in advance.

    Some questions:
    • What does the P3000 with the INF code 123 translate to?
    • How many miles on your Prius?
    • Does it consume oil?
    • Where in the great state of California are you located?
Good luck and keep us posted (y).

The Techstream system is meant to be used with the troubleshooting procedures in the Repair Manual, available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com. The text and illustrations are also available in the ChiltonLibrary service, to which many public libraries provide access at no charge.

I think there are two problems, not necessarily related:
    • DTC P0420, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1), indicates an exhaust leak, a malfunctioning air/fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor, or a malfunctioning catalytic converter.

Use the active test described in the P0420 procedure in the Repair Manual, which increases or decreases the fuel injection volume, to check whether the sensors respond as expected. Since you’re using Techstream rather than the older Intelligent Tester, go to Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test > Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor.
    • DTC P3000-123, HV Battery Malfunction, means the hybrid vehicle control ECU had a report from the battery ECU that there was a problem.

Since DTCs P0A82, Hybrid Battery Pack Cooling Fan 1 Performance or Stuck Off, and P0A84, Hybrid Battery Pack Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit Low, are in the history (“Hist”), I’d start by checking the battery cooling fan, which is also covered in the P3000 procedure.
Regarding the other current (“Curr”) DTCs:
    • DTC C2121 indicates that one of the TPMS sensors isn’t working. This should be fixed, but it won’t keep the car from passing a Smog Check.
    • DTC B1421 can be ignored; it just means the solar sensor for the air conditioning system was in the dark when the Health Check was run.
See the chart on page 4 of the Smog Check Manual (PDF); nether of the dynamometer tests is required for model years 2000 or later.

Elecktro has certainly pointed you in the right direction.

The battery issue is most likely due to the fan. It has a speed call going out for speed 6, but it's saying it's stuck off. Are you able to hear it running? Perhaps clogged or failed. Especially since the battery is showing as being at 130 degrees.

Just list the codes and sub-codes next time.

If you feel the need to include pictures, "screen shot?" Ctrl + Alt + PrtScn.

Get the HV Battery fan cleaned and checked out. The pack is getting hot.

Great you repaired the Combo Meter.
Are you not concerned about the traction control being activated regularly? And possibly for no apparent reason? Whats the tread depth of the tires? Are you driving on wet/damp/gravel roads? Do you accelerate hard on such roads? Do you brake hard on such roads?

    @101dave101

It appears that you've logged into PriusChat since your initial post.

If you could provide answers to the questions below that would be great (there will be others, but this is a start):
