I have a 2019 Prius Prime and want to use it to pull the SportsRig Micro trailer that I’ve pulled with my 2006 & 2012 Prius cars. However the hitch mounts differently on the Prime than the ones for the other 2 models I’ve owned. On my previous cars, the hitch mounted under the rear belly directly to the frame, but on the Prime, it mounts between the body and the rear bumper assembly. I’m wondering if with it mounting in this manner if it will affect the pulling capability. Does anyone have any input on this?

Yes I do it all the time. I can pull two dirt bikes or one really heavy bmw 1100 GS.
Also towing 900lbs is less of issue then running 850 lbs in gear, people and thule box. My camping trip was at max capacity and I felt that's more taxing then pulling 900 lbs trailer with gear. 20200209_115805.jpg 20210714_184438.jpg

With my old 2006 & 2012 Prius, I did the same as you, but the way the trailer hitch connects to them compared to the 2019 Prius Prime is completely different. The regular Prius, the hitch connects up under the belly (bottom) of the car where as the Prius Prime it connects up between the bumper assembly and the cars frame. That is why I’m concerned about how strong that will be.
