I was given the following info from a Toyota dealership about the packages available in Canada for the new 2012 Prius v wagon. Apparently Toyota Canada isn't using any numbers in the names of the various trim levels, the trim levels are: Base model, "Luxury package", "Touring package", and the "Touring + Technology package." They have yet to finalize pricing.

Thanks! Hmm, time to create a new features/specs thread I suppose.

wait, DVD-based navigation? I thought it's HDD now.

I double-checked my printout from the dealer and it does say "DVD navigation" for the top package. I asked a couple different dealers about the car and its technical features but they didn't seem to know anything about the Prius v. One dealer argued with me about the size of the engine and another had never even heard of Entune!

Regarding pricing, the "new Prius v" page on the Toyota Canada website (under the "hybrids" link) states the base package will be $27,200 and the MSRP for the touring package is $33,350.

Good eye. $2k more over a Prius Touring Package gets you a Prius v w/ SofTex, pano roof and DA navigation. You do take a hit in mpg but you gain it in space. From the first specs, it seems to be reasonably priced. It's only a tad more than a 2WD RAV4 given the tradeoffs.

That's odd. I wonder if that means we won't get the Premium HDD in Canada on the standard Prius. (Or that it's the prelim spec printout is old)

The Touring Package sounds just like the Prius Touring package.

So in Canada, the sunroof is available on a lower/middle package ($29k), while in the US, you can only get the sunroof with the super top-end technology package ($35k).

    That's a bit unfair :eek:hwell:

How do you know it's 29k? If true, it's A LOT unfair! I live in MA so I could drive/fly up to Canada to buy one since the Luxury package sounds like exactly what I want. Does anyone know if this is possible (taxes, customs, etc.)?

Here is the link for the preliminary info about the prius v on the Toyota Canada website:

    http://http://www.toyota.ca/cgi-bin/WebObjects/WWW.woa/28/wo/Home.Hybrid-adyqVJTqAZZiRwIvf1hh9w/0.9.0.1?fmg%2fhybrid%2fh500025e%2ehtml

It doesn't state the price of the luxury package, just the Touring package (see the small print at bottom of page). All I know is the luxury pkg will cost somewhere between $27,200 and $33,350. Note that this does not include PDI, freight, taxes, etc etc - I don't know if the American prices include any of that. The warranty of a Toyota purchased in Canada is Canada-wide, I'm not sure what happens if you were to get it serviced in the USA.

Except that it's based on the Luxury package so you do get basic nav, SofTex and heated front seats (among other things).

There will always be differences in packages between the US and Canada. We could get the LED headlights in a Touring package without having to splurge for a Five for example but on the other hand, our fully loaded model looks like a base model.

It's $33,350 for the touring package, not $29k.

Just personally, I do not miss the sunroof, in whatever package. We had one car over the years with a (factory) sunroof, could take or leave it: reduces headroom quite a bit too.

Yesterday I asked the sales, he told me the price is CAD$31,550.

So it's only $2k for the LED/17"/fog combo. Interesting.

The Prius v's pano roof shouldn't reduce headroom because it's a fixed roof and it's resin based, not glass so it can be thinner (plus none of the motors needed to be hidden in the headliner).

FWIW, I just test drove a moonroof Prius today and noticed no significant loss of headroom. In fact, with it open, I had more headroom.
