Prius will not start = Bad brake light switch?

Hi. Jumping in 11 years later to say "thank you!" I was having intermittent starting problems. My mechanic changed the 12v battery, nope. Then I found this thread and asked my neighbour to watch for my brake lights. NO brake lights. Had my mechanic order a new switch and, voila! Good as new. This chat saved me from going to the dealer and spending hundreds of dollars! The internet is forever and sometimes, that's a good thing!
