If you believe in uncontrolled entropy.

My understanding is that we are on a giant roller coaster, and we are coasting to a pause at the top. Again. :p

My office is a demonstration of uncontrolled entropy.

Sounds like I had better start planning right now

It's a good idea all the pubs are within staggering ... I mean "walking" ... distance. An even better idea: if your wife would take pity on us when we had the dry heaves

Something tells me that neither you or your wife would take pity on me once I got the dry heaves

Jayman, just how often do you get the dry heaves?

You might rethink the volume of ale you drink... oh, and I can heartily recommend Milk Thistle extract* for the good of your liver.

    *no, I'm not a doctor.

When I was in the Army, that seemed to be almost a daily occurrence. Now, it happens maybe 2-3 times a year

Much, much less consumed vs age 20 or thereabouts. I, and my liver, thank you for your concern and kind advice

Yep. Sure. If you wait 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 years or so.

Even in the most strict interpretation of entropy, we will spend a very long time at the bottom of the roller coaster...

I thought the universe was expanding and therefore we were on an upward track of the roller coaster, heading away from the gravitational centre of the universe. Am I wrong?

We are heading away from the center, but this could be the same as coasting up a hill after the big drop, or coasting up and rolling back to do it all over. That was an older theory. Present evidence has us thinking that other forces are at work causing the universe to accelerate as it speeds away from the center. This is where all of the "dark" forces and matter come into play.

Either way, entropy will get us in the end, although as vtie points out, it won't be our problem. On the other hand, the entropy in my office is my problem. It's starting to be a health hazard.
