Prius won't go into ready mode AGAIN!

    Any number of possibilites, that's one. But the EV mode connection is unrelated to the start-up/ready mode.

    good. those are the only guys DH's crew talks to when they need tech assist on the prius.

    yeah, installing just the least bit incorrectly could screw things up that's for sure. there's lots of places to go wrong there.

    at least it's fixed, now thank your lucky stars it was done under warranty! :lol:

    Please reread my initial post, I did not blame the problem on the EV switch, but on the faulty installation of such a switch (in the OP's words "loose connection"). There is a difference.

    Fair enough, but I still don't think that one can make a connection b/w a loose connection and the startup problems the OP has reported. Unless he installed it on the wrong wire (which would be pretty obvious since EV mode wouldn't work) or that there was a short b/w two different wires there really isn't any way this could occur.

    For the record, the EV switch has always worked. As best I can tell, the connection MIGHT have been loose (the tech did say he pulled it off), but I don't think there was a short...

    er, respectfully beg to differ.

    assuming the problem was caused by the hv ecu and replacing it fixed the problem... any number of things can go wrong when removing and reinserting that connector. a pin could be bent or otherwise misaligned and that would be the end of the hv ecu's proper function. not necessarily related to the receptacles on the connector, though obviously screwing that up is asking for trouble.
