My 2007 Prius has 98000 miles and recently the rtod and all the accompanying lights come on pretty often. I clear them with my ob2 reader. My gas mileage hasn’t changed and the battery unit seems to charge fine. I added oil as was mentioned even though I’m not due for an oil change for almost 1500 miles. Obviously I don’t want it to be the hybrid battery but I’m just hoping for some answers.

Do you happen to have any OBD2 codes (DTCs) that you can share with us here?

    It says what for what?

A DTC is a five-character code, where the first is P, C, B, or U, the next is 0, 1, 2, or 3, and the next three are a digit or letter A through F.

And what is a "rtod" ?
Of course nobody wants it to be a bad hybrid battery......but at 13 years old, it just might be.
I don't want there to be a pandemic either.......but wanting has no actual impact on either of those things.

If you can't get a good answer here (should be able to if everybody will just speak English), call some dealers and get a price for a "diagnostic" test.

Sounds like the OBD2 reader isn't up to the task, can you find a toyota hybrid compatible scanner?

Many here prefer a "mini-vci" cable, and a copy of Techstream (same software used by the dealer techs).

You could also try an OBD2 bluetooth/wifi adapter with an App like Dr. Prius (aka Dr Hybrid), or another App like Hybrid Assistant.

Here is a sub forum if you are interested in that knowledge : Prius OBDII Third-Party Apps | PriusChat

Clearing the codes will not make the underlying problem go away.

To get an answer, you need to start by getting a code reader that will be able to retrieve the logged diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). For example, Mini VCI which is a cloned Toyota Techstream.

Not sure, as nothing posted.. Try using the basic "copy and paste" feature, i.e. Control-C and Control-V to place the image/picture in line.

If you have an ODB2 reader that returns N/A for two potential DTCs (and the RTOD), then it would be safe to say that it isn't up to snuff.

Do you want me to? It’s the first I’ve seen of the acronym; most people have spelled it out.

Odd, that acronym has been in the PC wilderness since 2005 : 13 shutdown cases reported for Toyota Prius | Page 2 | PriusChat

Clearly I haven’t been inside those threads.

I’ve added it to the glossary. We may need a yellow one since I believe it’s been changed to a flashing yellow triangle with an exclamation mark for Gen 4.

It's a silly acronym anyway, and if I were writing the glossary I would say so. Toyota calls it the Master Warning Light, and it comes on for hundreds of reasons, a few of which could be expensive or serious and others of which might mean an MG resolver connection is getting a little dodgy, or you unplugged something and didn't put it back. The whole "red triangle of deeeeeeaaaaaaaattthhhhh" idea always distracts people from just asking the car what it is warning about, and jumping to all kinds of worst-case conclusions instead.

See if the dealer already gave you a replacement by running the VIN at : Welcome to Toyota Owners

Those pumps generally last around 100k (give or take), which is where you're at now. The pump isn't that expensive to replace if you DIY.
