Hi- 2004 Prius- non-SKS. I’ve reprogrammed a key on this car before without problems. Wife lost the extra... I still have 1 good working fob- does it all ok. So- I can get the new key reprogrammed to lock/unlock the doors, but will not start the car. I’ve tried with a new OEM key from eBay after purchasing a 3rd party new key off Amazon and returning it. I think my car is the problem. The car goes into ‘reprogram mode’ with the solid lit immobilized light- but when I put the new key in the slot to reprogram- it gives me 2 quick blinks followed by 3 quick blinks of the light. It does that for about a minute- then goes back to regular flashing. It never stops flashing entirely and never programs the new key. Any help?

Your car might be at the limit of allowing 5 keys to start the car. Techstream can be used to clear out lost keys and make room for new.

Programming a fob to open doors changes the fob and not the car so is not subject to the five fob limit.

Yes, that could be it. I had read about the 5 key limit, but assumed the lock/unlock success meant I was still under that #.

Just make sure when you are deleting keys you don’t delete the one that works. That would be bad.

From what I have read, TS can add from zero, but yes it is best not to remove currently working keys.

Looked a little scary when I was in there in Techstream. If he sees 5 key codes then he will have to figure out the working one. I think it tells you what one is in the ignition slot if I recall.
