ham, i believe you and OP have different issues. OP is reporting some sort of weird speckles when the sun's rays hit the glass at a particular angle (generally when the sun is low in the sky, i.e. early morning and late afternoon). the issue you brought up in the Gen 3 forum was light scattering at night.
it's possible they are related but they probably shouldn't be lumped together as "windshield issues toyota refuses to fix"

Yes... I have no issues with the glass when driving at night. Only when driving into the early morning or late afternoon light.

Well... went and looked at another 2012 pip this morning and the issue was present on this car as well. First I showed the speckled glass on my car to my salesman and he saw what I was talking about. Then after seeing the car on the lot he agreed that there was a problem.

The salesman then introduced me to the customer relations manager who was walking by. We showed him the issues I was having with my glass and he suggested taking the problem beyond the dealer and contact Toyota directly... at least to document the problem. He also said that a replacement glass could have the same problem or have it even worse (which I thought as well). Kinda thought that contacting Toyota should be the dealers job but I will take his suggestion and go up the food chain. We'll see what happens next... stand by!

will it show up if you take a photo of the glass? If so, can you post it?

as a product distributor, i have always found that end users have always recieved a much better responsefrom the manufacturer than the distributor/dealer.

How many of the Dealer PIPs did you look at and did they all have the problem?

Dianne, have you checked your PIPs for this windshield speckle problem?

I only looked at one. They had another in the back lot but the salesman said it had not been cleaned up since the last rain the day before. The one I looked at definitely had the issue. Tried to contact Toyota this week and was told they were closed all week due to holiday.

I had a window with scratches too found them behind the driver door 2 days later after I got it tinted. They replaced the window but not reimburse for my tint as they threw it away. I was not happy about it

Anything new with this? We're still tracking all of these windshield defects. Here's a look at the primary ghosting/refraction issue we have:
