Programming procedure for PROX PROGRAMMING

I stumbled upon this and was wondering if part or all of the procedure can be used without the software.....

Programming procedure for (1) one prox equipped with smart access.
Maximum number of fobs the vehicle can store is (4) four.
Pro only; Software needs to be V9.25 or higher.
M Dongle (Orange) Part # ADC-191
Software required; ADS-125 Toyota & ADS-150 Toyota 2007.
SMC or Web security is required
The base model Prius has a black logo on the back of the fob & doesn't come equipped with
smart access.
OEM Fob Part # for non-smart access is 89070-47180.
The fob with the chrome logo on the back is for the Prius equipped with smart access.
Also, you can tell by looking at the driver's side door handle. If it's equipped with smart access it
will have a black rubber push button on the handle.
OEM Fob Part # for smart access is 89994-47061
~Note-
2004-2009 Prius models that come equipped with smart access have a lockout button on the
bottom of the dash, just below the steering column. Be sure the button marked "key" is not
depressed and it is in the out position.
A word about programming previously “used” prox:

Frequently you may be asked to program a prox that has been bought off the internet or
elsewhere. Our testing has shown that as long as the prox is the correct one and in good
condition, working order (good battery installed etc.) It will program in just fine.
HOWEVER a used prox will not program in using the ADD PROX function unless a
RESET IMMOBILIZER and RESET ECU function has first been performed on the car.
THIS PROGRAMING PROCEDURE IS FOR ONE PROX:
Start by placing an UN-programmed prox in the programming slot, now the anti-theft light (a
red key symbol) in the dash should be flashing.
Hook up the Pro (using the M dongle & beta V9.25 or higher) go to:
Toyota>USA>Immobilizer>Type 2>Special functions>quick reset immobilizer.
This function Resets the immobilizer in an instant and places the vehicles immobilizer in the
learning mode.
The screen will say "please wait" or "trying to communicate" but if you look at the dash you
should see a solid anti-theft light, meaning the cars immobilizer is in the learning mode.
Take the prox out of the slot, put it back in, if you only want to program 1 prox then next press
the start button 15 times watching the solid anti-theft light until it goes out. This will close the
learning mode.
NOTE:
If you want to do more than one prox insert a 2nd un-programmed prox while the immobilizer is
still in the learning mode and it will program and close the learning cycle and the light should go
out.
Once the light goes out completely turn the ignition off, take the prox out and turn the Pro off.
Now for this next procedure we need to trick the car into thinking there is a prox in slot so we
can turn on the vehicle without the prox actually being in the slot.
Here's how it's done; Put the prox all the way in the slot, then step on the brake, pull the prox out
just a tiny bit (this is done using very little force) until you hear a click, then press the start
button.
Now that the car is ON (you should see the dash light up) and you can remove the prox out of the
slot.
~Note-because we stepped on the brake the vehicle is recharging itself so you don't have to
worry about having low power in the battery or using jumper cables because the car will charge
itself.

Next step; turn the Pro back on (Remember, using dongle M only) go to:
Toyota>USA>Prox>Type 5> You will get the SMC or WEB access screen.
Use your SMC calculator or if your PRO is not SMC equipped use WEB security. Input your
SMC or WEB security code, Press ENTER, the next screen should read: "Toyota Lexus remote
3", Press ENTER again, go to:
special functions> reset ECU >
~Note- be sure the driver's door remains open during the entire procedure of resetting the ECU &
the screen should warn you of this, Press ENTER.
It's very important that the next screen reads: "reset Immobilizer" - time required 16
minutes,
Sometimes there's a glitch that can occur were the screen will read "procedure complete"
without stating "time required 16 minutes", this is incorrect.
The work around is to try again; Press ENTER>reset ECU>ENTER>next should be the warning
screen about drivers door being open> Press ENTER.
Now the screen should show "time required 16 minutes".
NOTE-There is no countdown timer on the screen so please keep track of the 16 minutes using
another device eg. Stop watch or clock.
At the end of the 16 minutes the screen should read "procedure complete".
Press ENTER>program remotes>ignition on (which it already is) … Press ENTER.
The next screen should read "keys programmed 0", which tells us that the reset worked.
Press ENTER. Next the screen will prompt you Press the lock & unlock buttons for 1 sec., then
press lock until you hear a beep from the car.
When you hear that beep… press ENTER (for 1 Prox).
If you want to add another remote, as soon as your done with the first one you put it away, bring
in the next remote, repeat the same procedure until you hear the beep.
When you're done with all your remotes… Press ENTER.
The next screen will tell you how many remotes are programmed.

Press ENTER and you will get a procedure complete screen.
You can now shut off the vehicle and test your remotes.
Important Note- there is a button on the bottom part of the dash marked key (to the
right of it it says set) be sure that button marked KEY is out (and not depressed)
or it will cancel the smart access part of the remote resulting in the prox having to be
inserted into the slot in order for the vehicle to run.
For the NON-SMART access vehicles with the black logo on the PROX here is an on-board
procedure for the REMOTE part of the Key. The Immo programs the same as above then the onboard
procedure can be used for the buttons.
Step 1- It's very important to make sure all the doors are closed except the drivers door, that remains open.
Step 2- insert the prox in and out of the slot twice.
Step 3- close drivers door twice, then leave it open.
Step 4- insert the prox in slot once and pull it out.
Step 5- close the drivers door twice, then leave it open.
Step 6- insert the prox in the slot & leave it in.
Step 7- close the drivers door once.
Step 8- turn the ignition on once, then turn it off.
Step 9- take the Prox out of the slot and the door locks should cycle.
Step 10- Next press the lock & unlock buttons together on the prox for 1 second. Then press the lock button for 3
seconds.
Step 11- locks should cycle.
Step 12-To exit the learning mode open the door & close it.
Now open it again.
You are done! Now test your prox key functions to be sure they work.
