I am looking into purchasing a used 2005 Prius with only 55k miles for $6800 from a Toyota dealer. My main concern is that the battery will need to be replaced soon because it is 13 years old. With so few miles is it likely the battery will need replacing soon? Is it worth the price? Are there other issues I should be aware of in this situation?

    welcome!

yes, it is very likely. ask them how much to install a new battery, and deduct it from the price.

    all the best!(y)

Battery life is based on age and abuse more than mileage. In fact, a battery that old, with so few miles, is MORE likely to die sooner than a well-exercised battery in a car with three times that mileage. 55k miles makes me wonder if the car sat for long periods, which is bad for the batteries.
