    Today my friend bought prius gen 3, 100k miles car, I was very surprised there is no difference if pwr mode is on or not, car doesnot reacts on pushing differently. What can it be?

    Car is 2009, with new battery 1 year old, I checked toyota dealers history, and in past there was problem with inventer, but last checking was good, its very strange, I have 2012 prius with 225k miles, also with new battery 2 years old, and i feel 2x power on my car. Maybe there is some problem with ecu

    I wonder if the Original Poster's "2009" is third or second gen? Around the world the descriptions vary? In North America there were 3rd gen "2010's" with 2009 build-dates. If it's in fact second gen there's no EGR.

    Does Original Poster's problem car have body coloured or piano-black tail scoop (aka wind fairing). The latter would be 3rd gen, the former is second gen.

    This is 3rd gen engine bay, EGR valve at centre of picture:

    Let me tell you about my car because im facing this issue with my 2010 ..

    I check the EGR pipe and cleaned all intake manifold and EGR coolant and cleaned MAF sensor and put new sparks...same issue still exists but there is some weakness in hybrid battery and also there is hesitation in acceleration...i think these kind of issues will not be solved just by replacing replace the HV battery..

    I think there is some problem in "chip", which controls how much gas and electric power give to make proper acceleration, everyone knows if car runs on normal mode and driver dicedes to turn on pwr mode it takes lets say at least 1,5 sec, this car doesnot reacts at all, there is no difference which mode car works the same power, sometimes prius with this pause gives filling of turbo diesel car, which has to wake up and make it self to move. my cars eco mode is more effective and powerful (225k miles) then my friends (100k miles).

    Just for the record: ECO, Normal and PWR modes only change the gas pedal travel rate. PWR mode for example, does not give the engine any more power; it just reduces the pedal travel needed.

    Every time I see PWR mode I get the Top Gear fellows voices in my head:

    “More PWR”:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.

    I just drive it(y).

    That's really the low hanging fruit, easiest thing to check. Oh: does the dash display the "PWR" light when you push that button?

    And if that's all it is, I wouldn't be in a rush to fix it: Normal mode (no buttons pushed) is very linear feel.

    The only one that doesn’t display is normal mode;).

    So the switch could be the culprit or if in another mode, does the display change?

    It's been a long time since I've used anything but "normal" (years, except when buttons accidentally pushed), but I'm sure both ECO and PWR display text icons when on.

    Yes, it's visible on dash, and from my expirience power mode lets engine to work on max output, but in eco mode I dont feel it, like I feel that there is more rmp.
