Qi wireless charging and phone case thickness.

    Inverse square law. The field is reduced by the square of the distance. Double the distance, the field drops to 1/4. The sad truth of electromagnetic fields. ;)

    I think your best bet is a proper cig. lighter phone charger. It's really the only way you can get the current you need on the USB micro connector, and is really necessary if you have USB C (Oneplus 3T, Pixel, etc).

    Can't argue with your science, but my Nexus 6 (6" phablet) always charges quickest on the Qi charger pad than using a 2amp USB cable from the power socket. Although the phone has a curved back wall I've stuck 3 little neoprene studs either side of the pad and that anchors it in nicely, stopping any rocking from side to side.

    I too have an s6 with otterbox and i have to mess with the position to get a connection. I'm thinking of a clear case hoping that it'll work better
