I always use the parking brake but I have a quick procedure question.

When you come to rest do you:

A ) press down the parking brake and then press the "park" button (prevents the rocking, but probably puts extra pressure on the transmission or brake assembly)

B )press the "park" button, ease off the brake until the rocking comes to rest and then press down the parking brake (allows short term stress on the transmission as the car rocks but will not add extra pressure to the parking brake assembly)

I have a feeling one way is the correct way and one will lead to problems.

I have been using version A for all this time....

Yes "A" is best. Even better is to :

    1. Apply normal brake to stop completely.
    2. Apply the park brake and then shift to "N".
    3. Release the normal brake and check that the park brake is holding.
    4. Press park (or just power off as that will automatically engage park too).

Yeah I actually just remembered I do it slightly different, I come to rest and hold my foot on the brake, then I press the "park" button and then before I lift my right foot off the brake I press down the parking brake with my left foot.

When I do take my foot off the brake the car is rock solid and no rocking.

When I get in the car again I hold down the regular brake with my right foot and start the car, then I disengage the parking brake with the left foot and ease off the regular brake.

It does not involve neutral but is this method ok?

    I use procedure C:

    C) Bring car to full stop with service brake using right foot. While holding the car stopped, depress the P button. Depress parking brake pedal fully with left foot. Then release service brake.

This is my method as well.

Using the service brake relieves the parking brake of the need to compress the brakes. The power hydraulics do it. Then all the parking brake needs to do is lock the brakes in place.
