Rattling, check engine after cat replacement

    Hey all, I live in the East Bay in California and, surprise, I had to replace a stolen catalytic converter. I haven't really driven it and then I took a 35 mile or so round trip drive and it started to jerk. When I went to start it the next morning it was rattling, not consistently charging, and the check engine light is on. Can it be related to to the cat replacement. I haven't had a bit of trouble with the car until this. 151K miles, always well maintained. You can hear the sound here.

    Do you work on cars?

    Yes: check for error codes and report back.

    No: take it to your regular mechanic. If you don't think it is safe to drive because of "jerking" then have it towed there.
