Oh well, I will stick with Prius PRIME for a while. I had $10K mark down on it. ;)

This Happened when the first plug ins were sold.
    (Some were asking nearly double)

    Hint (it didn’t last long)

It happened in 2005 with the Prius too.

Regardless, I'm fond of these TFL reviews:

    • Same battery capacity, ~18 kWh, as our 2014 BMW i3-REx
      • Our BMW i3-REx is rated 29 kWh/100 mi

Given how few are likely to show up:
The dealers got taken to the cleaners during the semi-lockdown so they'll need to cover some of their fixed facilities costs and remaining staff.

Tested: 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Is Quicker Than Supra 2.0

The junior high kids over at Car&Driver got their hands on an XSE and there's a lot to like...if you don't mind the looks and the price gouging.
    Still....
It's quick, fast, it can tow 2500#, has 5 seat-belts, and a usable EV range.
    94 MPGe isn't world-class but it's hardly 'inefficient'

If it were not for the $48,000 as-tested price tag, and Toyota's tenancy to not put their stuff on sale then it would be a welcome substitute for a sedan for well-heeled PHEV shoppers.

$50,000 +TTL ($45,000 after kickbacks) isn't small taters in some locales....but it is not ridiculously expensive as new cars go....
One can certainly find more foolish things to spend $50,000 on but these are hardly vehicles for price sensitive folks.

One wonders what they will be going for in 15 years.......

Price gouging is fully legal and encouraged.

That is why Around here housing prices doubled in the last 6 months (Despite fewer jobs)

Asking prices do not equal selling prices. I'm continually amazed that people don't get this simple fact.

I wonder what the EPA City and Highway metrics are?

They are sometimes much more useful than the combined rating but take a lot of a twisting to locate on plug ins

you would be surprised by how many loud talking potatoes overpay at dealers because they can.

    Compare Side-by-Side

My guess would be 38/38 or 39 city/37 highway. The biggest difference between the hybrid and the phev is weight which will mainly just hurt city milage. On the electric side, My guess would be 98 mpge city, 90 mpge highway as the aerodynamics will hurt more than the weight.

It was an exciting phev until toyota decided to keep the production run so short that dealers will gouge their customers.

I guess there is no rush for me to wire up a new circuit and plug for an Level 2 EVSE and adding a few more solar PV panels at the ready positions on my roof rack.

Prius Prime started this way too around here. I'm going to make a guess what Chicago dealer will be pricing the RAV4 Prime at premium "market adjustment."

our neighbor's home is listed at $1.8M. That's what it's NOT selling for.

I drove an hour to get to that dealer to look at that car. The only prime around at that time. I saw that markup, walked out and drove back home. If that was the last dealer on the planet I wouldn't buy a car from them.
