Rays Super Eco 17" Formula Silver

    Just changed from Sparco DS1 17" (weight: 21lbs) to Rays Super Eco 17"(about 15lbs).
    Besides the change of the outlook, hope can improve the oil consumption. :D

    Wow, 15 lbs is really light for a 17" wheel. Will be interesting to see if you notice any change in your city mpgs. Hopefully so. Let us know.

    I am planning on a 2012 Prius v 5 w/ATP in the spring. Will have to keep these wheels in mind as a possible alternative to the factory ones. No idea yet as to how much those weigh.

    Those who have went to lightweight wheels in the past have not gained much in mpg. Most couldn't even measure the difference. :( My 17s are approx 15lbs and I still take a big hit to mpg.

    If you are trying to compare mpg make sure you include tire data. Changing your tires will throw the whole test out the window as will weather data.

    They look great. :)

    My 16" Volk Ce28ns made no difference in my mileage - it was worse because of the ultra-performance tires I put on.

    For my old Sparco rims before. I could only run the most millage was 650km/tank. The worst was only about 570km/tank.
    After changing the light rim Rays Super Eco for 2 months and tested for 3 full tanks.
    The first tank I could run about 780km.
    The second was 810km.
    The third was 820km.

    I do sure that the lighter rims, the better mpg. (drive in the same behavior)

    My rims history:
    15" factory rim (never tried)
    16" normal rim, approx. average : 700km
    17" heavy rim, approx. average : 610km
    17" light rim, approx. average : 800km

    some people in Taiwan use Yokohama EP400 for their Prius. Yokohama claims that it is a type of eco drive tires.
    And most of them can run over 1000km for their P2 or P3 (the highest record was 14xxkm/tank). I will change to EP400 after my Bridgestone GR90 consumed. (but need at least 2years running... )

    Mister Powerjo, I must say that I admire your choices in modifying and updating your Prius. In particular, I am simply smitten with your choice of the Rays Super Eco 17" Formula Silver wheels. I believe these wheels must be the most beautiful AND functionally brilliant choice of any wheel available for the Prius. The appearance and implied function of this wheel is simply stunning.

    In my search for the Rays Super Eco 17" Formula Silver wheels, I’m having difficulty finding exactly where these wheels are available, and in establishing their price. Can you help? Did you buy your wheels in Aisa? Do you know of any sellers who will ship to the US?

    I bought my Super Eco on Japan Yahoo Auction. I was so lucky that the seller sold these set of rims because he sold his car before installed them on his car (so, the status was 100% new in fact :cheer2:). He treated those as 2nd hand and set the price to almost half of the original. So, my friend who has a Japanese address helped me to bid and shipped to Hong Kong.

    As far as I know, the original price of the Super Eco Spark Silver is around HK$4900/pc. (about US$612.5), but I have no idea about the shipping cost from Japan to US.

    You may try to contact the authorized dealer of Rays in US, if they have stock on hand, supposed you don't need to pay for the shipping cost by yourself. Even if they don't, they still can order for you. :)

    The Rays authorized dealer in US in Mackin Industries in socal. I used to work with them closely several years ago.
