No where I've read you have to replace the ECU when you just replace the batteries.
I personally would rather keep my rather than replace the whole unit. Since it's been with the car,
seems there would be less chance for a problem, it one might happen.

Got the code P0A80 again (3rd time). this time went to the dealer with code displayed. Its saturday now .was told they must get toyota aproval to replace HV battery. Was here last week too , code didnt show but was recorded twice at the computer code scan history. Dealers policy is :no code no problem so had to wait for code to show.
Seems like warrenty will cover. Car is 2013/120k.
Also, dealer said will not replace the ECU cause no need but lets see if this changes.
Dealer said will provide a free rental only after toyota approval which is monday.
With all that 3 times code showed, i noticed the triger for this code was when battery was fully charged so i didnt have any problem of duplicating it again. Just need to drive the car at a steep downgrade road , push the brake and voila battery full and code P0A80 and all other lights on dash like check engine etc... ,are displayed

Here is a good one which confirms my personal opinion regarding the first gen 2 batteries; they are oldies but goodies.

    Owner: Professor
Car Mfg Date: 08/03 (15+ years)
Mileage: 300k (cluster stopped at 299k)
Car Condition: Below Average but good maintenance.
    Problem: block 3, failed module.

    Congratulations, high-fives!

Maybe @Andres V can use your experience in his battle to get battery replacement without ECU needing to be replaced? Post a picture of your invoice with personal info redacted?

...the other end of it, the calendar? A 2013 might have been built spring 2012, so call it 81 months?

@Mendel Leisk . First time i went there with no code shown on dash and no CEL .and though the reading showed that code popped twice , dealer said very clearly come back when code is showing or else warranty won't cover. @Andres V
