    Holy crap...

"Owners of an affected vehicle will most likely become aware of a problem with the steering as a result of increased noise such as a rattle or a `knocking' sound," Toyota said.

I had just noticed a knock/knock/knock noise last week when I was turning, but I chalked it up to yet another squeak/rattle coming from the car. I had no idea that it could be the steering about to collapse in on itself. I suppose I had better call the dealer.

Think the dealer would have heard about it yet since we usually hear about it here before any service departments?

Meantime, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my steering not driving straight, again. (I've done the re-calibration with u turns already). I was going to head in to maybe check alignment already. HMM.

I just want to make sure we have a single, focussed thread on this and not a handfull of various threads. I would hate if someone missed a vital bit of information because it was in "the other thread on this topic."
