Rectangular hole on dash near windshield on driver's side?

    Hello all,

    I searched this forum but couldn't find any reference to this. Just this morning I noticed a rectangular hole of approximately 2"x8" on top of the dash, near the windshield on driver's side in line with the steering wheel. Our garage is dark in the mornings, and when my wife turned on the car ('06 model), there was a faint green glow coming from this opening.

    Is this normal? I've *never* noticed this before -- it is hard to see otherwise since it is obscured by the windshield. What is this opening?

    Its the speedo the display is seen by you through a mirror in front of you. If you put a piece of card over it the display will go blank.
