    Hi all,
I have about 600 miles on my 07 so far and really enjoy this car. I think I will keep it a long long time. Getting new tires (GY Comforttread) soon as the Integ's have already scared me once in the rain. Being a big syn oil fan I am getting ready to install Mobil One in the motor (new factory filter) and Redline D6 in the trans. Redline is some amazing stuff and has actually fixed minor driveability issues on other trans I have had problems with over the years. Thoughts anyone?

Don't. The tranny is NOT what you're used to. The fluid there is
less a hydraulic-actuation medium as in a regular AT and more a
cooling and motor-insulation medium, and if you throw the wrong
chemistry in there and let it wrap itself around your high-voltage
parts, you're asking for trouble. Unless you're very sure about
Redline's *electrical* characteristics over the long haul, stick
with WS, and don't worry about till about 50K.

NO NO NO!!!! The Pri trans fluid is special for the electric motor floating in it! You run the risk of shorting out the motor!

Although Redline is good stuff and I have used it in another vehicle, I wouldn't chance it with the Prius for the reasons that the previous posters have noted. I would stick with WS.

Heh. I'd love to see one of those electric motors floating in
*anything*! Maybe a pool of mercury. Them suckers is *heavy*.

If you want to know more about the WS type ATF, there is a discussion on it here:

It is a full synthetic formula. Prices vary from dealer to dealer, but I was able to buy it for $5.20/qt or $20.80/ 4 qts.

O.K. you got me. It was a poor choice of words. I was dreaming of a large pool of cool water. It's been like the Sahara desert here. NO rain and HOT!

The motor is bathing ??? in the the fluid. Use the wrong stuff and it might be boiling in oil!!!
